Chapter 6 – Pain
Calum's alarm clock started ringing so loud causing all three of them to groan not wanting their sleep to being interrupted. But sadly, they have a mission scheduled that morning and they are to leave base at exactly seven in the morning. Calum turned off the ringing device and did his morning stretches. Ashton was already out the door and into the shower rooms and soon after he followed leaving Michael behind. A few minutes into their shower, they finally heard Michael's voice and they sighed in relief knowing that Sergeant Major Brendon doesn't tolerate tardiness.
35 minutes into their meeting time, they were all dressed in their uniforms and had their weapons in hand. They decided to let the time pass until the alarm goes off signalling 10 minutes into their meeting time.
"So, guys, you still haven't made contracts with a demon yet, right?" Calum asked.
The two boys shook their heads 'no'.
"So, what we have now are just normal cursed weapons, huh? Just enough to kill a normal vampire."Calum said and both heads turned to him.
"Cal, what do you mean 'normal'vampire?" Ashton asked, his brows furrowed.
"Well, based on my knowledge, since I stayed with them for months, the normal vampires are those ex-humans. Meaning they were humans turned into a vampire. The noble vampires are pure blood vampires and they're very powerful and that's all I know. And last, their leaders, the Progenitors. I don't know much since I haven't seen one." Calum explained causing Michael and Ashton to gape at him.
"We have to ask Sergeant Major Brendon to help us with the demon contract soon or else we'll end up as food to those vampires." Michael pointed out.
Calum and Ashton nodded and then the alarm went off and they were on their way to the meeting place.
ASHTON'S POV
We arrived at the meeting place and greeted our squad who were already there before us but Sergeant Major wasn't around yet so we just decided to talk among ourselves.
"Hey, Chrissy." I called out.
"Yes, Ashton?"
"I wanna ask you something."
"Sure, go ahead."
"You already made a contract with a demon, right?" She nodded and urged me to continue, "How did it go?" I finished.
"Well, it was painful. Like reaaaally painful. You have to have a strong will and you have to show your demon that you are stronger than him or her so that he or she will surrender themselves to you and lend you their power. They will do anything to make you surrender to them so you need to have the upper-hand or else they will possess you and everything will go berserk. Your cursed weapons already have their own demon but you're not just aware that it's there. When you actually get into a contract with one, your weapon will evolve into something more stronger." Chrissy explained and we nodded in understanding.
"What made you ask this question, Ashton?"
"Well, Calum told us about the Nobles and the Progenitors earlier this morning and how our cursed weapons are no enough to hold them down." I explained.
"Yes, that is true. Honestly, we didn't know about the Nobles and the Progenitors because we haven't encountered one yet but thanks to Calum for telling us and we got some information out of the vampire hostage last week. And judging from the Sergeant Majors and the Lieutenant Colonels plan, we'll be able to fight them without too much casualties if ever we encounter one today."
