Chapter 24 – Light

LUKE'S POV

It's been a week since the great battle ended and we, the vampires have finally made peace with the humans and have been living together ever since. It has also been a week since I turned Calum into one of us and fell unconscious.

Calum is confined inside his hospital and I made sure that he's treated with extra care and I never left this room ever since they brought him here. This room has been my home for the past week, Zach, Michael and Ashton came to check up on us everyday while they also bought me clothes and food.

The grumbling of my stomach pulled me out of my thoughts as I sighed. I need to eat, I'm so hungry. I stood up and leaned over Calum's sleeping frame and softly kissed his forehead.

"I'll just go get something to eat, okay? Please wake up soon." I whispered and kissed his lips before I walked out of his room and into the food hall of the hospital.

"One set B meal please, replace the soda with pineapple juice. Thank you." I finished as I smiled at the lady behind the counter.

After waiting for a few good minutes, I finally claimed my food and walked back to Cal's room.

CALUM'S POV

The sunlight penetrating from the window blinded my vision when I opened my eyes from my sleep. I fluttered them repeatedly until they finally adjusted to the light. I stared at the plain white ceiling as I racked my brain, trying to remember what happened.

However, the sound of the door opening caused me to turn my attention to it and my heart fluttered as I saw Luke entered the room. When his eyes finally met mine, they widened in shock and he dropped whatever he was holding to the floor and finally, I was engulfed in his warmth.

"Calum!"

I put my hands on his back and inhaled his scent.

"I'm so glad you're awake, Cal!" he cheered, as he pulled away to properly look at me.

I smiled. "Yeah." I said, my voice hoarse. "Good to see you again, Luke." I added.

He frowned. "How are you feeling?"

My eyes widened as flashbacks came into my mind.

"Honestly? It's not different from being a human. I feel perfectly normal." I smiled at him.

He smiled back and grasped my hand in his. "I'm glad."

Our moment of silent was interrupted when my stomach grumbled loudly. I turned red in embarrasment as Luke chuckled in amusement.

"The lunch I bought for myself is kinda ruined now so..." Luke said, pointing to his ruined lunch on the floor.

"I'm sorry." I pouted.

Luke chuckled and let go of my hand to ruffle my hair.

"It's okay, Cal. I'll just go buy another one, this time I'm buying two, okay?"

I nodded.

"I'll be right back." he said and leaned in closer to me. I blushed as his lips came in contact with my forehead. And with that, he stepped out of the room to buy us both lunch.

MICHAEL'S POV

"Ashton, hurry up! We're gonna be late!" I yelled from outside our room as I impatiently waited for Ashton to come out with a bag of food in my hand.

"Don't forget the drinks!" I called out again, earning a muffled "Okay!" from Ashton.

After a few seconds, Ashton came out of the room with a bag of drinks in his hand.
