Chapter 29 – Finally

Calum sat on the picnic blanket, Luke copying his actions afterwards.

"Do you wanna eat?"

"Yeah, of course, I'm hungry after that long journey."

Calum crawled his way closer to the huge picnic basket and opened the lid only to be met with something fluffy. He closed the lid immediately and looked at Luke with wide eyes.

"Is something wrong, Calum?" Luke asked. He was trying sooooo hard not to laugh at Calum's expression.

"L-Luke....s-something a-ate our food...."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Luke was smiling.

"There's no more food inside. There's only fur. Oh my god, a baby monster ate our food!"

Luke laughed. "Baby monster? Really, Cal?"

"Fucking hell, Luke, check the basket. I don't wanna go near it." Calum said while inching away from the basket.

Luke opened the lid of the basket.

"Nope, Cal, there's nothing there."

"What?"

"Look, come here."

Calum went closer the basket and opened the lid again. But this time, a small Corgi puppy popped its head out.

"Oh my god! It's a puppy!" Calum cooed and immediately proceeded to pet the puppy's head.

"Do you like her?"

"Luke, are you kidding, I love her! She's so cute!"

"I'm glad you do."

"What's her name?"

"You name her."

Calum grinned and continued to pet the puppy while thinking of a name for her. Luke could only stare at the two fondly.

"Hmmm, I'll name you Cake."

Luke chuckled.

"Why Cake?"

"Well, who doesn't love Cake, right? So everybody will love her." Calum explained.

"Why, that's so deep." Luke muttered sarcastically which resulted in him getting hit by Calum on the shoulder.

"Just kidding, babe. Cake sounds good." Luke smiled and pecked Calum's lips. Calum smiled into the kiss which caused Luke to pull away grinning.

"So, Cake is your name." Luke smiled at the puppy while it just cutely barked at him. "So, lassy, I think it's time we show Calum what we're here for, huh?" Luke proceeded to pet its head and it barked before disappearing back into the basket.

Calum looked at Luke, confusion written all over his face. While Luke just smiled at him, fighting the urge to kiss all over Calum's face.

The puppy reappeared from the basket's opening, but this time, a small black box is in between it's teeth. It looked at Luke for permission and Luke just nodded his way towards Calum and that was when the puppy finally jumped out of the box and walked towards Calum, placing the small box on Calum's leg before it barked at him, signalling for him to open the box.

"Luke? What is this?"

"Open it, babe."

Calum held the box in his hand and shakily opening it, gasping at the sight of what was inside.

"L-Luke..."

"I told you I'm gonna marry you, Cal. You never fail to make me happy. You complete me. And I never want to be apart from you again. I want to be with you every second of my life. And I hope you do, too. And I would gladly oblige to that, just say 'Yes'." Luke spoke, looking at Calum straight in the eyes.

Calum, on the other hand, is fighting to keep his tears on bay but to no avail. He looked at the ring then back at Luke and smiled tearfully, "Yes, Luke. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Luke grinned so wide and took the ring from the box and slid it into Calum's ring finger. And without wasting even a millisecond, Calum grabbed Luke's face and smashed their lips together. They made out for a few minutes, pullling away only to catch their breaths.

"I love you, Luke. So much."

"I love you, too, Calum."

The puppy barked from beside them and Calum grabbed the small puppy and nuzzled his nose into it's tummy.

"Oh, we love you, too, Cake."

"HE SAID YES, I ASSUME?" Michael's voice was heard from a distance.

Calum and Luke and the puppy turned their heads towards Michael's direction an there they saw the rest of their friends holding up more picnic baskets, paper bags and more blankets.

 "Let's join the partyyyy!" And everyone engulfed the newly engaged couple into a group hug and enjoyed a picnic day in the park to celebrate the occasion.
