Chapter 14 – Together

LUKE'S POV

I've been running for hours now and judging from the heat and position of the sun, it's about one in the afternoon and since then I haven't seen anyone, not even a hint of Calum, Michael and Ashton's presence since I left the city hall. I positioned myself on the hood of the car that is parked just below the bridge to shade myself from the sun and take a breather for a while.

Calum, where are you? I need to see you again along with Ashton and Michael. I need to tell you guys everything. I sigh. How am I supposed to tell them that the orphanage whom they thought cared for them didn't actually cared for them and just used them? Yeah, the first time I knew about it hurt me so much but through the years, I have learned to accept it and that is probably because I wasn't on their side since I'm a vampire now. But Calum, Michael and Ashton have spent years with them, they have probably built an unbreakable friendship with them. What if they think that I'm the bad guy here? What if they won't accept me anymore? All this thinking is making me crazy so I just kept my thoughts blank.

ASHTON'S POV

On our way to the airport, we met some of the people from the other squads so they joined us and we all teamed up, just in case vampires will appear along the way, they're gonna be outnumbered since they only team themselves up to seven. All in all we are twenty-five in total and we consist of five squads, the others have lost their mates during the fight with the vampires. Our squad is only down one member though, and that's Brendon.

Calum is still unconscious on my back and he made no signs of waking up yet which is good, for now because we can't risk him taking another pill again and going after Brendon. He's quite a handful and he really pushes himself to do whatever he wants without thinking about the consequences. Yeah, that's just Calum for you.

"A vampire is spotted fifty meters away from us." One of the guys in front of us said.

I decrease my pace so I'm behind them, I can't really fight right now since Calum is still unconscious and is on my back. The rest of the squad positioned themselves in front of me, protecting me from the attack. I looked forward and I can see the vampire, I can't make out his face yet since we're still a good distance away but everyone is ready to fight for they already activated their cursed weapons.

"This vampire is going down." said one of the female co-leaders as she quickened her pace.

LUKE'S POV

I can hear noises, like humans shouting, so I stood up and scanned the area around me. My eyes locked towards the group of humans, their weapons ready as they're running towards where I'm at. I shrugged. So, they saw me already. I unsheathed my sword and ran towards them. I observed everyone's faces, trying to locate Ashton, michael and Calum if they're in the group. I squinted my eyes and there I saw Michael. I gripped my sword and got ready to fight but my eyes are still scanning around in search for Ashon and Calum.

The first human swung her sword at me so I did the same, wounding both of her knees so she couldn't stand up. I dodged another attack from another human and I elbowed him hard on the stomach, immobilizing him for awhile. I scanned the area again and I finally spotted Calum, he's unconscious and Ashton was carrying him on his back. My eyes narrowed in anger ans I gripped my sword tighter.

"Humans, what did you do to Calum?!" I let my anger out by attacking every human who comes my way, preventing me from getting closer to Calum. And judging from Ashton's and Michael's face, they know why I'm here.

MICHAEL'S POV

"Ashton, it's Luke." I whispered.

When we saw it was Luke, it was like we didn't care anymore. I lowered my weapons and put them back into their holsters.
