Huey Vann was a bright and educated man that left to give his wife, Ann, a better life. He wrote a long and lovely letter each night expressing their love that kept him right. Overseas was a horrid place, but the locals still showed a friendly face. Race did not matter in the battle for life and liberty. Huey Vann, that bright and educated man, saved lives whether they be white or tan. For his heart was made of gold, wanting to save another's life and home. Months passed and Mr. Vann finally went home to reunite with his beloved Ann. She had not written back, but in such a war torn country, it might have simply lost its track. With a large smile on his face, Mr. Vann went back home to his lovely Ann. What Huey Vann saw had not been expected of his beloved Ann at all.
