Angelyka

22 10 15

There she was…
Small…
Vulnerable…
Helpless…

The moonlight seeming to pierce her alabaster veil.
Little did I know that a veil had been pierced, just not in the way I could've comprehended.

Her cries, cottony and dripping with defeat, which drew me subconsciously.
I would've never thought to find such a being as her that gorgeous night by the lake.

Oh, did my heart ache to observe her there, weeping into her transparent hands, mourning the lost that no one seemed to care about.

Doubtful, I was, about her purpose, but one quick snap of a twig silenced the angel's song.
Our eyes met and even the youngest of children could make out the longing in her diamond gaze.
Her face immediately painted with terror that reflected upon my own.
She did not hesitate to disappear into the water that was crystal clear.

Angelyka, my dear…

The name of a girl that met her fate the previous year,

Alone…
Scared…

Saw no other way to chase away the pain, allowing the darkness to swallow each grain.

However, that was to no avail, the agony was sure to prevail.

Knew the reason, I did not.
Ask her?
Of course, not.

Each year, I lent my ear to the crystal girl, seeing her shine under the moon like a freshly picked pearl.

Our souls longed for each other, but the veil kept us apart.
That was when I made the decision.

Ice consumed heat,
A daring feat,
Regret, I did not feel.

The liquid teal,
Breaking life's seal,
Allowing me freedom.

Angelyka, my dear,

Come near, for I am cold and bare.

No one but we care about what happened there.

Two lovers left to die,
Two victims of life,
Too weak to fight,
Surrender yourself to the night,
Let your wings take flight.

Angelyka, my dear, come near,
It's time to venture off,
Time to depart.

No longer shall you cry or whisper goodbye,
Not as long as I am here by your side.
