We love you...
They hate you...
They only pretend...
He's not your boyfriend...
Gossip...
Rumors...
Nobody loves you, but we all do...

"Cassy...?" Jeremy asked with concern in his gaze, breaking the girl out of her uncontrolled daze.
She blinked twice and acted alright, but her hands quivered and felt like ice.

"I'm okay. What was the assignment due Tuesday?"

Jeremy stayed silent and narrowed his eyes, but the teen was quite the understanding guy.
If she didn't want to say what troubled her, why pry?
Cassy could usually hide it, but lately the words had gained volume, consuming her insides and all of her thoughts.
Instead of fantasizing over attractive Jeremy, she pictured slitting his throat and dissolving him chemically.
What the hell was going on?

The girl kept quiet, silently fighting the emerging urge.

We love you...
They hate you...
Wash in their sins and soak in their innocence...
One day you'll be ashamed of your naïve insolence...
Listen to us and we'll shower you in riches, if only, if only you obey our simple wishes...

Cassy groaned and Jeremy stiffened.

"Leave me alone, Jeremy Gryphon."

The boy was surprised, flinching and flushing, obviously blushing.

Why here?
Why now?

All Jeremy Gryphon wanted was to listen, but she couldn't reveal her hidden condition.
Turning her head, red clouded her vision, her self control quickly fading, the dark thoughts invading.
Resist, she could not, but one last action she would pull off to save the one life that mattered, sparing his soul from being utterly shattered.

"Jeremy..."

"Yes...?"

"I'm sorry..."

"No, that's okay. I was stupid to bother."

"Jeremy, leave, call your father."

"What?"

"Jeremy, please, just leave!" she pleaded under her breath, clutching a pencil tight against her breast.

"Alright, alright, I'll do what you say!"

Putting full trust in the girl he loved, Jeremy Gryphon rose from his chair, running a hand through her soft auburn hair.

"I'll be back in a sec... "

When he left, the pencil sunk into a neck...
Screams could be heard, reality blurred, but the voices inside her skull began to praise the cull.

Cassy knew what her future foretold, but the bloodlust let loose its temporary hold. Jeremy's distant yell broke her heart, but he had no part in this cursed black art.
