A/N:

I often see the love we have for Shawn somewhat as a protection you know? Like I think of Shawn so much and of how I really do love him with all my heart and then I get upset that he will never love me back that way. But whilst I do so, he kinda protects me from all the actual heartbreak I could be experiencing. Having him means I don't need anyone who doesn't deserve me as much as Shawn would. So until I find that one person, that person that I'm gonna love just as much as Shawn and who I'm willing to give Shawns love up for, I won't fall for any fools who are only gonna play with my heart. He kinda keeps me from having those kind of heartbreaks and even though he might not love me back the way I want him to, I know that he's with me until I receive the love I deserve.
If that makes sense? I don't know, these are my thought and i thought I'd share them with you.

Anyways, two imagines in one day, you guys are in for a treat! This one was requested by @MonikaMendes  I hope you like how this one turned out!!

You were at your dads birthday party back in your childhood home. It meant a lot to you that Shawn had the time to keep you company on your trip back home. It was nothing huge, just family, but you had a big family, so your parents had decided to build a tent in the garden. Everyone had arrived about two hours ago and it had become crowded inside of the tent. So no one was really noticing how close Shawn was eventually getting on the bench next to you. He kept kissing your cheek every once in a while and traced his hand along your leg. But you didn't notice his affection either. You were talking to your cousins who were sitting in front of you and you hadn't seen in such a long time.

"I really can't believe your pregnant" you gushed at one of them, your eyes sparkling with excitement. "Do you already know the gender?", you asked, not able to hide your excitement. Your cousin laughed at you for being so tizzy about it but was kind enough to answer all your questions.

After a while she excused herself and Shawn immediately saw his chance of getting your attention. "Babe" he whined, laying his arm around you. You finally laid your head onto his shoulder. His eyes lit up but before he could get too excited about you cuddling into him you already got up again.

"I'm sorry love, I just realized I did not talk to my grandparents at all yet, I'm gonna be back in a second." You quickly pecked his lips before you rushed away to fully greet your grandparents. Shawn sighed. He knew you wouldnt be back in only a couple seconds as you loved your grandparents and could spend hours talking to them. After what definitely felt like hours to him he eventually got up to search for you. As he saw you sitting with your nan he carefully approached you, trying not to interrupt.

"Hey babe" he whispered. "Oh hey" you looked up at him in surprise, as if you had forgotten he had attended the party with you. "Nan, you remember Shawn, my boyfriend?" You took Shawns hand to pull him down on the seat next to you. Your nan nodded, a huge smile forming on her lips. Shawn and your nan had met plenty of times before and she had grown to love him. She started asking him tons of questions "I'm gonna leave you two to it" you giggled as you got up from your seat and joined your dad at the bar.

You couldn't see Shawns big eyes following you, his gaze on your back as you started the conversation with your dad. Instead, your nan noticed his disappointed expression.

"You love her a lot don't you?" she asked him. Surprised he turned his attention back to her. "I do" he nodded, blushing slightly. "But it's like she's completely paying dust to me tonight."

Your nan chuckled. "Shawn, she hasn't seen some of these people in so long, of course she tries to spend as much time with them as possible tonight. Don't be mad at her for not giving you enough attention." Shawn blushed even more. "I'm not mad I just-" Your nan patted his shoulder before getting up from her chair.

With his elbows on his knees, Shawn buried his face in his hands. Embarrassed wasn't enough to describe the feeling he felt right now.

The night went on and eventually everyone had left. You searched for Shawn and saw him sitting somewhere at the end of the garden.

"Wanna go up to bed love?" you asked him, reaching for his hand. He nodded, grabbed for your hand and after saying goodnight to your parents the two of you left to your old room. You changed into one of Shawns shirts and cuddled up next to him in your bed.

"Babe" you asked, softly tracing your fingertips along Shawns arms. He hummed in response.

"Before my nan left, she told me I wasn't giving you enough attention tonight?" All you heard was a groan. "She told you?" Shawn slid further down in bed to hide his face in the pillows. A small giggle escaped your lips. "Hey, don't be embarrassed. I think it's cute." Again, only a groan from Shawn. This time you couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm sorry I didn't give you the attention you would have needed." You scooted closer to him and started to leave soft kisses all the way down his neck until you reached his shoulders. "What are you doing?" Shawn mumbled into the pillow. You brought your lips to his ear. "Making up for it" you grinned.

Shawn removed his head from the pillows. "Stop making fun of me!" He pouted. "All I want is a cuddle."

You chuckled as you pulled Shawn closer to you. "I know."
