First Kiss

It was Friday when dad enrolled Angelo to a school near my workplace. According to him, it will be good kung malapit sa akin ang school niya para madali kong mahatid-sundo.

Today's Monday, and this boy is so excited to go to school. I was fixing his uniform when I heard the doorbell.

"Wait here, Elo." I told him and he nodded. Binuksan ko ang pinto at bumungad sa akin ang isang bouquet ng puting rosas.

"Good morning, Hon. Si Angelo? I bet he's so excited." He kissed me on my forehead. People say that when a man kisses his girl's forehead first, he shows sign of utmost respect. In fact.. Ivo and I never had our first kiss on the lips yet.

"Good morning, thank you Hon. Ayun, nagbibihis siya sa kwarto. Actually, mula sabado pa inaayos niya na ang mga gamit niya." I said and accepted the bouquet of flowers.

"Daddy!" Tawag ni Angelo kay Ivo.

"Angelo, wow. Gwapo naman ng baby namin. Ready for school?" Ivo patted Angelo's head. Siya na ang nagtapos magbihis sa bata.

"Opo! Sabi ni mommy dapat good lang ako kahit kanino lagi, pero pag may umaway sa akin, labanan ko raw. Kaso hindi ko po kayang lumaban.."

"If you know you are right, just stay there. You don't have to fight everyone because not everything will have your way. Let's go? Hatid ka namin ni mommy?"

"Wow. Sige po, sige po! Susi ba sa kotse ni mommy to? Parang iba po yun ah.."

I smiled. I've been looking forward to this. From the day he proposed, I saw myself spending my lifetime with Ivo. "Yes, let's go."

"At mamaya, we have to celebrate because daddy got promoted.. and I have a car now, we can go anywhere!" Ivo cheerfully said.

"Yehey!" The boy reacted.

My heart swells with joy. Kahit kailan, hindi ko ipagpapalit ito sa kahit na ano pa man.

Hinatid namin si Angelo hanggang sa classroom. Their teacher greeted us and we greeted back. Nagpaalam na rin kami kay Angelo at sabay na kaming pumasok ni Ivo papuntang office. Sinabihan rin namin ang bata na susunduin namin siya pauwi.

"When did you get this car, Hon?" I casually asked while Ivo's driving.

"Hmm.. just yesterday. Kasama ko si mommy. I was also planning on buying her a bigger house."

"And I think she doesn't want to?"

"Right. Sabi niya, wag ko raw gastusin ng gastusin ang savings ko. But still, I want to get what's best for her. Gusto ko lang rin maibalik kung ano ang nabigay niya sa akin mula ng ipanganak niya ako. It was all her. Ayoko ngang.. makita ang ama ko. Parang pag nakita ko si Lawrence Pendleton wala naman rin akong sasabihing kahit ano. It would just cause me bad thoughts." I held Ivo's hand while holding the gear stick. Lumingon siya sa akin at ngumiti.

I held his hand just to let him know that I'm here for him. Angelo and I will always be here for him.
