Chapter 14

Kane's pov

I was so proud of Rayne.

I knew she could do it.

I couldn't wait to see her tonight.

I have been so busy lately that we barely get a chance to spend much time together.

I know soon she will be busy as well.

I want to tell her I love her tonight.

I want it to be perfect.

I want her to know that I have her back, and that no matter what I will make time for her.

She has become a very important part of my life.

Every time we spend time together it just feels right.

She is an amazing woman.

I called to make sure our reservation for tonight was set up.

I called Josie to make sure she would be there.

Rayne deserved a celebratory dinner.

She had some really great ideas.

I'm just happy she got the loan to go forward.

I wanted her to know I support all her dreams.

So, I am surprising her with a small dinner party with her close friends.

I had to go in to work and check on one of my patients that was just admitted to the hospital.

My job was never a 9:00 – 5:00.

Most of my relationships didn't work because of this.

They would get mad because I would have to cancel plans at the last minute for a sick child.

I was so happy that Rayne understood how my life worked.

She knew how much my career meant to me because she was just as passionate about hers.

I think that's why this works so well.

We both have a mutual respect for the other.

We have this amazing communication.

I couldn't wait to tell her how I felt.

I don't even know why I waited this long.

I knew I loved her the first night we stayed up watching movies together.

I left the hospital and called Rayne telling her I was on my way.

I was having a bad night, but knew the second I saw her all that would go away.

She just had that effect on me.

I pulled up outside her house and went to knock on the door.

My jaw hit the floor when I saw her.

She looked amazing.

"Hello beautiful are you ready to go?" I asked.

"Yes. So, where are we going?"

"That's a surprise, but before we go can we talk for a minute?"

She looked at me with a worried look on her face.

Did she think I was ending things?

"Do you want to come in and talk here?"

"No, we can talk in the car."

I walked her to the car and opened the door for her.

"Is everything okay?" She asked.

I grabbed her hand and looked at her.

"Rayne, I love you."

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

Was she not happy?

"Oh, Kane I love you to."

I pulled her into me and we kissed.

I couldn't believe this beautiful woman loved me back.

I sure was a lucky man.
