Chapter 10

Kane's pov

Josie called me and invited me to her house tonight for a BBQ.

I told her I would try to make it tonight, but I was pretty swamped.

I wondered if Rayne would be there.

I would love to see her tonight.

I wanted to check on her and see how she's doing but I haven't had a minute to myself.

I was done seeing patients for now and had some time to wait before my next one.

My nurse came in and told me that my last three patients had to reschedule.

So, I had free time tonight after all.

I text Josie telling her I would be there, and asked if I needed to bring anything.

She said to bring flowers for a certain person that was having a bad day.

I wondered what was going.

I didn't like hearing that she wasn't having a good day.

I finished up here then went home to change.

I picked up some flowers and chocolates for Rayne then headed over to Josie's.

I wondered if Rayne knew I was coming.

I couldn't wait to see her.

She's all I have been thinking about since our date.

I pull up and see Josie and Rayne sitting on the porch swing.

Rayne looks really upset.

Instantly all I could think about was holding her and making everything better even though I didn't know what was wrong.

Josie saw me and waved.

Rayne looked at me and smiled.

Man, this girl was getting to me.

I was starting to care a lot for her.

"Hey, ladies your, both looking lovely tonight."

I handed Josie flowers I got for her, and handed Rayne her flowers and chocolates.

She smiled up at me but it didn't light up her whole face like it normally did.

"Thank you, Kane." Josie said.

"Hey you okay Rayne?"

"I quit my job today."

I know how much she loves being a Vet so this was a shock.

"I'm sorry what happened?"

"My main boss came in today, and just went off on me about everything. Acted like I didn't do my job. I just had enough and told him I quit."

"It sounds like you did the right thing."

"Thanks, it's just kind of scary."

"Well if there is anything I can do to help let me know."

"Your helping just by being here and listening to me."

I pulled her into my arms and held her.

She was a very smart woman I know she will figure this all out.

I think she should start her own Vet Clinic.

Everyone seemed to love her, and she was good at what she did.

"Have you ever thought about opening your own clinic?"

"Yes, that's what I am looking into now. Do you really think I could do that?"

"Yes, I do and I will help you with anything you need."

"Thank you for believing in me."

I knew we weren't alone, but I couldn't help myself.

I pulled her into me and kissed her.

Her lips were so soft.

I could go on kissing her like his forever.

Sadly, we were interrupted by Josie letting us know the food was ready.

She took Rayne by the arm and they walked off giggling.

I sat there for a second thinking that I was a total goner.

Rayne had my heart, and I didn't even know when she stole it.
