Rayne's pov

I had such a great time with Kane.

He really is a great guy.

Any man that loves working with kids the way he does is something special.

I can't believe I almost ruined everything.

He's so understanding.

Josie called me once I got home last night, and we talked for hours.

She was happy that Kane and I hit it off.

I was glad I had her to talk to.

I was actually excited to go out with Kane again.

We are both so busy that it/s going to be awhile before that happens again.

I got up and ready for work.

I loved my job.

Animals don't judge people like humans do.

They just love you unconditionally.

I got to work and had a full day ahead of me.

Some days I loved being busy because it made the time go faster.

Other days it was if I didn't even get a minute to breathe.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was my own place.

I was working for someone else, and he only showed up when he wanted to.

Yes, I just got back from my little vacation but that was the first one I have ever taken.

I have heard nothing but how rude it was of me to take time off.

How I made it hard for everyone else.

My day was only getting worse.

How could my boss chew me out for taking time off when it was owed to me?

My phone was ringing so I went to answer it since the office was quiet for a minute.

It was Josie inviting me over for a BBQ tonight.

My boss saw I was on the phone and went off on me once again.

I loved working with the animals but this was ridiculous.

I didn't need this job.

I had a nursing degree that I could use and just say forget this.

I just loved being a vet too much to give it up.

But dealing with this was just getting to be too much.

I have worked hard for this place.

I have worked hard for this man.

I am her every day working way past closing time.

I was finally done for the day and couldn't wait to go home shower then head to Josie's.

I wondered if Kane was going to be there.

I was about to the door when my boss handed me a ton of files that he said needed to be done by tonight.

These weren't any of my files because I got mine done.

I told him my files were done, and he just laughed at me.

I was sick of this man.

I deserved to be treated better than this.

I looked my boss right in his beady eyes and told him that I quit.

Then I walked out got in my car and took off.

It didn't set in what I had done until I got home.

I hurried to shower and get ready.

I really needed to talk to Josie because I was in a panic.
