One of my go-to drunk dancing songs.
It isn't pretty.
It's sexy as fuck.
The rounds were long and hard, filled with grunting and so much blood Alpha Luke had come to see what he was smelling. Merrie and I were standing at the helm of the bloodshed, simultaneously managing four matches at once. Groups of other wolves were also in a ring around the field, watching the pride of their youth duke it out for a spot at Merrick's side for a week.
It was quite surreal to watch really. The animosity at which they fought- completely forgetting they had been training together for months before hand- surprising me above all else. Something my father had always told me was to remember that I was a wolf and that other people were too.
And if there was a fight to the death, human conscience wouldn't get in the way for them. So it was my own responsibility to let go of it and let go of guilt.
It never got easier- it just became easier to manage.
My attention snapped to Bane and his partner Cory, both of who were complete opposites in their professions. Bane was a defender- capable of fatal blows and had a very high resistance to pain, whereas Cory was a tracker- one of the most agile wolves I had ever met and with a keen intellect that guaranteed him almost knowing what the other person would do next.
Bane was sweating hard, but whipped out an arm that clotheslined Keith, hitting him square in the jugular and eliciting a coughing fit from the boy. Cory came up behind him and wrapped an arm around his neck, climbing up the boy's body and strangling him from behind. My brows raised, and a sense of pride came into my heart at seeing one of my men cut off someone else's oxygen.
Cory felt Ian move behind him, and turned Keith just in time for his chest to take the complete impact of Ian's kick, knocking him out instantly. Bane snapped Ian's foot out of the air and with a heave of strength, picked him up and smashed him into the ground on the other side of him.
Note: Remind the boys not to let Bane get a grip on any part of you.
An unconscious huff of breath was heard and Bane stood tall, Cory at his side, both looking at me with triumph in their eyes.
I walked over, folding my arms across my chest and lifting a smirk onto my lips. "Very nice boys. Get these two over to the shade with the med wolves and then come back."
I turned away, winking at them. "You've still got a way to go."
The other three matches ended quickly after, revealing only two more victors. The other members of the duos had been knocked out cold, which meant there were four winners instead of eight. That made it relatively easier.
"You've all done well. Now, you will be fighting in one on one bouts with the other member of your duo, or the other single member left. After the winners have been announced, then you will be fighting each other for Merrick's approval."
Merrick scoffed next to me but kept it quiet, and I nudged him with my shoulder.
"He's honestly like, so excited, he couldn't stop gushing from how much he wanted a new recruit."
I grinned at my team, then added something else. "Since you're in the top four, I'll buy you dinner tomorrow. And if you get into the top two, Merrick will treat you to an all out dinner at his expense."
Merrie stiffened next to me and I clapped my hands, moving onward and away from my extra promise that I may not have told him about.
Whoops.
"Now. Fight."

Cory won. It was a win that surprised even me, but Merrick just nodded as soon as Cory slammed his palm into Bane's chest, making my main student stumble back until he eventually fell like a log onto the ground.
I blinked. Then I blinked again as a smile formed on my face. "We have a winner!"
Cory blinked too as he stood panting in the middle of the field. He looked down at his hands, then back up at me, brows furrowing as the reality of what had just happened came onto him.
He plowed a hand through his sweat soaked blonde hair, then a small smile stretched his lips.
I made a little 'yay' motion, pounding my fists slightly into the air. He chuckled, then walked over to me, going to his knee and bowing his head.
People gasped around the sidelines, wondering why a wolf- male wolf- was bowing to a woman.
He spoke so quietly I strained to hear it.
"Thank you Enforcer Jay. For teaching me."
Tears stained my eyes, and I reached down and pulled him back up. I'd be damned if I cried in the middle of a battlefield.
He met my eyes, even though he had to tilt his head up a bit to see them, and I nodded at him, impressed and appreciative all at once.
Merrie came forward, a satisfaction gleaming in his eyes as he took in the short warrior in training. I rolled my eyes, knowing he was impressed with the balls the boy had for bowing to a woman.
It was unheard of.
"You had the balls to bow to my mate. Knowing fully well she could crush your head in a single blow."
Oh, right, that was why.
Merrie glanced at me, a softness on his face that made my breath hitch.
"I am grateful to you for respecting her." Then, he turned to the crowds and gestured to Cory.
"My newest recruit"
And the erupting cheers made me feel pride. Not only for my team, but for my mate. And how...kind he was. How much he had tried to change for me.
It hit me then.
How much I loved him.
I was in love with Merrick Bale, Scourge of the werewolf world.

Does anyone else feel like my chapters are getting more sucky? Cause like, same.
This isn't a fishing for compliments for thing, I just actually feel like this.
Sorry for bad content.
