Mackenzie and Anthony have been best friends for 6 months but after Mackenzie is diagnosed with cancer and told that she only has 200 days left, things between them change.
"Everything is looking good but I will call you in 2 days with your results" Doctor Tancredi says.
"Okay thank you" I say giving her a small smile.
"You're welcome Mackenzie I'll see you hopefully in 6 months"
"See you then"
I open the door and walk out of the building as quickly as possible. I hate it there.
I phone Tony since I can't be bothered texting.
"Hey" he says after picking up.
"Hi I just got out"
"Everything good?"
"I think so"
"Okay I'll be round in a minute" he hangs up the phone and I sit down on a wall while I wait for him.
I really want to tell him why I was here but I just don't want the usual sympathy and pitiful looks that people give me when I tell them.
I sigh. Maybe I'll tell him once we're closer and I'm sure that he won't treat me like a stray puppy.
Bloodshark pulls up right in front of me and I hop into the passengers side.
"Thanks so much for taking me Tony"
"You're welcome Kenz" he smiles.
"So are we just going back to the house now?"
"Nah I've got something planned for us"
"Really? What?"
"It's a surprise" he smiles.
"No that's not fair. Are we doing some sort of activity or just going somewhere?"
"Going somewhere"
"Whereee?"
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I just told you"
"Is it gonna take long to get there?"
He shakes his head "About 10 minutes"
"I suppose I can wait to find out what it is then" I say dramatically.
"Oh by the way can I ask you something about Tessa" he says.
"Yeah what?"
"So Chance wants to ask her to be his girlfriend bu-"
I cut him off "Seriously? This is so exciting oh my god"
He smiles "Yeah but he wants to be absolutely sure that she'll say yes before he asks"
"She's definitely gonna say yes she really likes him. She was talking about how much she likes him yesterday"
"Yess! This is great I'll tell Chance"
We go into a comfortable silence for a few minutes until we reach our destination. Venice beach.
"Yay" I squeal. "I love the beach. But I don't have a bathing suit" I frown.
Anthony chuckles "It's okay we're just gonna go for a walk to Santa Monica Pier"
"Really? I've never actually been there even though I've lived in LA for 6 months now"
"Me neither and I've been here for 9 months" he says parking bloodshark.
"Well I guess there's a first time for everything" I take off my seatbelt and the door automatically opens.
After getting out of the car me and Anthony walk towards the beach. Once we're on the sand I take off my socks and shoes. Anthony does the same then we walk all the way down to the water and walk along the edge of the water so that the hot sand doesn't hurt our feet.
Anthony walks on the side closer to the sea and I walk beside him. We're both holding our shoes with our outside hands. After a while he reaches out and grabs my hand. I let him hold it and smile up to see him blushing. Cute.
"Oh shoot" I realise something.
"What's wrong" he asks looking concerned.
"I left my vlog camera in the car and I've barely vlogged anything today"
"It's ok I'll help you with vlog content when we get back to the house" he says.
"Thanks Tony"
We talk as we walk along and eventually we reach the pier.
"Ooo lets go get ice cream" Anthony says pointing to an ice cream stand.
"Yess" I agree.
We walk off the beach and put our shoes on before getting into the queue at the ice cream stand.
"What's your favourite flavor?" Anthony asks.
"Hmmm probably chocolate, you?"
"Definitely mint choc chip" he grins.
Just then we reach the front of the queue and we both order cones with the flavours we just discussed.
I reach into my pocket to get money but Anthony stops me.
"I got it" he says and hands over money to the cashier.
"Thanks Toner" I say using his favourite nickname as we walk away from the ice cream stand and onto the pier.
"Hey don't call me that" he complains.
"Nah I quite like Toner" I tease him.
"And I quite like you" he mutters under his breath.
"What was that?" I say pretending not to hear him.
"Nothing" he smirks.
We sit down on a bench while we eat our ice creams and watch everything that's going on around the pier.
"Wanna go on any rides?" Tony asks me.
"Yeah let's go on the Ferris wheel" I say pointing to it.
"I'm down" he smiles.
