Mackenzie and Anthony have been best friends for 6 months but after Mackenzie is diagnosed with cancer and told that she only has 200 days left, things between them change.
"Uhh I don't know can we go upstairs to talk about it" I say looking at the various other team 10 members that were also downstairs.
"Of course"
I follow her upstairs with Bailey in my arms and we go into her room.
"So what's up?" she asks after closing the door. We both sit down on her bed.
"I think Anthony's cheating on me" I feel my heart sinking as I say it.
"What? Why would you think that?"
"Well he keeps going out and not telling me where he's going and I know I'm probably just being paranoid but he's really shady about it and when he gets back from wherever he's been he acts really weirdly with me"
"Have you asked him about it?"
"Yeah but he just says it doesn't matter or that I don't need to worry about it and one time he said he was going to the gym but he was wearing jeans so he was lying to me"
"That is shady. But I don't think he would cheat on you, he's so in love with you"
"Maybe I'm just not good enough for him anymore"
"Mackenzie don't you ever think that. Any guy would be lucky to have you. If he is cheating on you then he's so stupid and he's not half the person I thought he was"
"Yeah but I understand if he is I mean when we first became a thing I told him that I didn't want him to fall for me because of the cancer and he said he didn't care but maybe he's having second thoughts. Why would he want to be with someone that's about to die?" I say.
"No he's an asshole if he's a cheater and you don't deserve that no matter the circumstances" Tessa hugs me.
"What should I do then? I don't know if I should wait and see if he keeps doing it or if I should accuse him of cheating"
"Just talk to him and if he doesn't tell you where he keeps going then accuse him"
"Thanks Tess" I hug her again. "How's things with Chance by the way?"
"I don't know" she looks down. "I feel like we're growing apart and I hate it but there's not much I can do about it"
"Spend more time alone with him and see what happens"
"Good idea, we actually haven't been alone together for a while"
"We're great at advice we should have a helpline or something" she laughs.
"Yesss thank you T" I stand up. "I'm gonna go wait for Tony so I can speak to him when he gets back"
"Okay good luck and come tell me about it after"
"I will"
I walk out of her room and down the stairs with Bailey following me then go into the backyard and sit on the edge of the drained hot tub.
I play with her for a while and post a picture on Instagram of when we were in Paris.
When it starts getting dark I get hungry I go inside. I make food and eat it then go upstairs. I look into Chanthonys room on the way past and see that Anthony is in there playing fortnite.
"Tony can we talk" I ask after tapping his shoulder to get his attention.
"Um not now I'm busy"
"Whatever" I mumble and leave, annoyed that he chose his video games over me.
"Mackenzie wait" he chases after me.
"Oh so you have time for me now?"
"Don't be like that. I'm sorry" he hugs me. "What did you want to talk about?"
"Um let's go to my room" we go into my room and I shut the door behind us then we sit on my bed.
"Anthony promise me you'll be honest with me when I ask you this question"
"I promise. What is it?"
"Why do you keep going out and not telling me where you're going or lying about it?"
"Umm i... i cant tell you I'm sorry"
"Why?"
"Because I just can't"
"Why are you keeping secrets from me? You're supposed to be 100% honest in a relationship"
"I'm sorry"
"Are you cheating on me?" I ask with tears in my eyes.
"Cheating on you? Of course not. I love you so much Mackenzie I would never ever cheat on you"
"Then what are you doing? Because that's the only possible explanation I can think of for you leaving for hours at a time everyday and not telling me why"
He looks down at his hands without saying anything.
"It's true isn't it? I thought things were good between us. If you don't love me anymo-"
"Of course I love you Mackenzie. But you have to trust me when I say I'm not cheating on you. I just... can't tell you what I'm doing"
"Fine then. Don't" I stand up and go into my bathroom slamming and locking the door behind me.
"Mackenzie please open the door" he knocks.
I ignore him and turn my shower on to drown him out.
