I have a bad habit of abandoning stories in between, some such incompleted series have been already posted in this collection,
And I bring you another such incomplete series. This was supposed to be a retelling of the classic story of Salim and Anarkali, a love story that still stands the test of time, do Google it for some more information.
here is the first of the ten parts1- Songs Of Sand
A caravan led by Akbar the Great, walks on a deserted land on the way to meet Faqir Salim Chisti
AKBAR
Old Jallal ud-din Muhammad Akbar am I,
Known all over as just and fearless,
Calling me fearless would be a lie,
As I walk now- confused and heirlessWalking on this throne of desert crawlers,
Instead of resting on my royal throne,
O' Faqir- distinct from us drunk brawlers,
Boon me son and the sands'd turn stoneO' Faqir- bathe me of my sins of past,
Sins since thirteen I've been accounting,
Make him fair and able- gods not be in haste,
Let me be of fables and recountingsA father'll come with his hands tied,
Not Akbar- guilty of million hands chopp'd,
A father'll come with his head under hide,
Not Akbar- whose menhead seeds've empires cropp'd!King of Hindustan does forth in normal white,
Not Velveteen; with 'phants and following oxes,
Grace me- take garlands or men at bight,
Hence own powers and jewellery boxes. The caravan moves until they reach a small hill where the Faqir lives.
