Itsuki Kaya was never really a sharp girl. She was very smart in class, almost the top of her school, but her density level was insane. That's why she didn't realize on time that the flowery gift bag the little boy on the side of the road had swung...
I twitched. I tried to look around, but couldn't see anything behind this curtain over my eyes.
Hmm? There's something wrong here...
Ah.
I'm alive, I realized while in a shell shocked breath. I coughed like I had just learned to breathe as I took first, easy breath.
Realizing this, I tried to look around again. I grew frustrated at the curtain as I tried to lift my arms and pull it off, but was unable to.
Were my arms pinned down?
No, I just couldn't lift them up properly. I could move them like a snow angel, but nothing upwards.
I cried out, thinking someone from the hospital staff might come sooner or later if I did. I assumed that I had survived the blast with some major injuries or something, and just couldn't move for a while. I could hear and use my voice perfectly fine, so I should be able to learn what happened from someone.
Wait. Let me rephrase that...I could use my voice, yes, but I couldn't form words. Every time I tried it seemed like gurgles or incoherent baby talk came out.
And I still couldn't move very much, since there seemed to be this heavy cloth over me that blocked out all light.
A door swung open with a loud bang, causing me to be shocked and cry even harder.
"M-Ma'am! Ma'am!" A shocked voice cried out alongside mine, yelling with urgency and some other emotion that resembled...surprise.
"What is it, Thérèse? What's got you so riled up at this time? Don't you know that the Madame is heartbroken over the loss of her...daughter?" Another lady quit as she heard my crying. I didn't bother to pay attention to their words and just focused on moving my stupid limbs to get this dumb cover off of me!
"What are you standing there for! Go to the young miss!" The second voice shouted.
"Y-Yes Ma'am!" The first one, Thérèse, shouted.
I heard the swishing of cloth as someone wearing multiple clothes hurried forward and lifted the blanket off of me.
Light! Yes, light! Thank you God, Buddha, Amaterasu, or anyone else out there listening that made these horrible nurses hear my pleas!
My eyes adjusted to see an unfamiliar ceiling. I stopped crying as I stared at it, shocked like I never had been before while frozen.
Blink. Blink blink.
This...is the hospital, right? Then why is there a lady holding onto the ceiling like Spiderman? And why does the ceiling have art depicting a demonic battle everywhere else?
"She's alive! Head Maid, she's alive!" Thérèse, a young brown haired maid that was hanging onto the edge of my hospital bed, called out behind her. I could tell she was a maid because she was wearing one of those outfits from a maid cafe, just way more worn out and more like it was from a more distinguished, conservative era.
