Mother about gave me the shock of my life when I saw her like that. After making her eat some spaghetti I'd been saving for a rainy day and forcing her to bed, I finally stepped out of the house.

It was just passed midday, so it was likely everyone was getting all the rest they could before going out to power the barrier for nighttime.

Great! That meant there was no one to stop me as I did my rounds.

     Almost.

     I jinxed it, didn't I?

"Where do you think you're going, little miss?" Blondie came strolling after me as I sneaked into the forest behind my house.

Out of all the people to catch me, he was not who I was expecting.

"Oh, nowhere much..." I twirled a toe in the ground while my eyes were closed.

"You...they said you can't see. Why are you out here?"

"Au contraire, Blondie. I simply can't see with my eyes," I pointed a finger with a joking smile.

He wasn't buying it. "Why don't you go back inside? The barrier's down, so if you go missing after being dragged off by some monster then no one will know."

"I've got something to do out here," I shook my head, "and no one's stopping me."

Being an Elf, he could obviously feel that my mana was back and almost at full capacity. "If you can't be stopped, then I guess I'll just join."

Unwelcome, but if it pleases you...

"It's just a little errand, no need to come," I shook my head. It seemed like I was trying to keep him away, when it reality I didn't care at all.

"I insist," he marched along side me as I turned and went into the forest. Blondie was disturbed and confused that I could navigate around trees and bushes perfectly well even with my eyes closed, but that didn't stop me.

When we reached the arena, I stopped and put my hand on the wall.

     "What are you doing?"

     "Stuff."

That was all I said before I tugged on the ties to the mana making up the arena, and suddenly the structure lost form. Like water thrown out of a jar, the mana particles dispersed and I sucked them towards me. I was refilling what I couldn't get from my sleep, which put me at only two hundred points from my mana total of now 35,476. I guess using that holy magic really boosted it, jumping over five thousand points.

Blondie didn't say a word as we walked back, but I could feel his wide and disbelieving eyes on me.

I abandoned him halfway to go look for Thérèse, who had just happened to be found in the bunker.

It was a very wide space underground that I had no clue about, reminiscent to the one I found under grandfather's house but not unending.

There were hundreds of people inside, people I'd never seen before and people I knew all too well.

     They knew me too.

When I poked my head in, someone screamed out my name and scared me so badly I fell down the staircase. Of course, since I didn't want to waste more mana in healing my injuries or risk loosing myself to my Vampire side again, I did a couple of flips until I landed on the bottom floor like a gymnast.

Two someones ran at me and I was tackled anyway, my head bashing the steps and my limbs crying out as I slammed to the floor.

"SISSSSSSYYYYYY!!!" was the cry I heard as I blacked out again.
