Kitri pulled back after making sure the glowing on my chest stopped, right below the mark of the familiar under my collar bones. I could see that one, since it was far down enough. It was glowing silver, the same exact tint and shade as Kitri's wings, in the silhouetted form of a dancing fairy with sharp ears and wings. It faded away into my skin just like the other marks had, leaving not a single trace.
I was looking at it upside down, so of course it had looked a little messed up to me.
Not what I was expecting. Not what I was expecting at all.
I looked up at Kitri, who was blushing up a storm the same as the first day I met him.
He could barely look me in the eye again as I stared at him blankly, finally realizing:
Oh crap.
He's a boy. He's male.
And he's pretty cute. I mean handsome.
What the...
My thought process ended there.
"Did it work?" I asked blankly, completely unbiased.
"Yes..."
Hmmm... "Kitri."
"Yes?"
"We shall never speak of this, okay?"
"Yes..."
"Also, don't feel too bad about it. My brother already stole my first kiss a long time ago. Ah, the wiles of children...I'll never get used to it," I looked up at the sky like an old woman, contemplating the meaning of life.
Wiles of children? His thoughts leaked. I'm not a child. He sternly huffed in his mind, insulted.
I don't think he knew I could hear him, since he never looked up at me but instead continued frowning at the ground with mixed emotions. I could feel some dangerous ones in there I think, so I kept my thoughts to myself as I replied to his without him knowing, You could've fooled me.
"So, what now?" I asked, peeking my head down to look at his face from underneath. He blinked those pretty blue eyes rapidly as he leaned backward, embarrassed most likely.
"You test out your magic."
I nodded. "Okay."
I imagined something I hadn't been able to do before and brought it to reality.
Since I liked chanting out loud sometimes, I snapped at the air, "[Wind Glove]!" It wrapped around my hand again, the same as the last time I used it. Then, "[Sturdy]! [Penetrate]! [Compress]!"
Then, I cast another spell for physical enhancement and summoned up a barrier of light that I made to copy the invisible wall in the ancient backyard. I made it much stronger than what I had guessed it to be before, and poured more MPs in for pity's sake. Then, I launched myself at it without another word and threw my fist at it, going for the kill.
It only cracked at first, then shattered completely after taking two more hits. The invisible thing crashed to the ground with the sound of broken glass, scaring Kitri out of his wits. The shards and wind glove dissolved into nothing.
I was positively, absolutely, ecstatic and intoxicated with the feeling of mana running freely through my veins! Oh, the wonderful warmth that I had missed before, the feeling of being free and not something anyone could hold back!
Kitri watched me jump high in the air, something I hadn't been able to do with my short legs. I used wind magic again to go pretty high, then remembered I had no clothes on.
