I came back in Decembre to my house, finding that my parents had gone back home finally.
During that time, apparently some friends I had made had been asking about me if I could come play with them. Since I wasn't there, they had been politely turned down.
It was good to see that people were hanging out so avidly these days, the heavy atmosphere that had been lingering for years finally lifted completely. The threat of war was still terrible, but for some reason the Demons stopped attacking right around the time my first god was slain.
No one knew that other than Tear Fang, Paivla, and the rest of the attendees of the World Council. It had taken some time for the human king, my king, to come to terms with the fact that the gods were not all they were cracked up to be. But he understood after seeing the discrepancies in their actions, peeking through the cracks that he hadn't thought to look at before.
He too was sworn to never tell a soul about what he'd learned. We all knew perfectly well what would happen if heresy was being committed by one one other than Fonce's cult, one of the only groups of people in the world who didn't follow the gods.
Everyone was shocked when they learned the first god of one hundred and one was disposed of, kicked out of this world by having their powers drained by me. They stared at the little five-year-old girl looking down at the red carpet from her wooden seat.
"How?" they asked.
No one who knew gave an answer. Cough Fae Queen cough Tear Fang...
The human king looked at the little noble girl from is kingdom with mixed emotions, all in a despairing range. How could such a person be subjected to carry that heavy a weight on their shoulders?
"She is five years old, correct?"
"That is not a lie," Melody shook her head. "And she truly is the one who has slain the five gods."
"Now what? All ninety six left should just wait for her to come at them?"
"No," Paivla shook her head, looking towards me. "And as for how the rest of the gods shall be removed from the way, Firea-Madeline already knows."
Indeed, I did.
The next god I slew was number twenty-nine from the rankings, the twenty-ninth weakest. That was my sixth god.
How did I jump so far up and skip all the others?
Simple. The dagger was powerful enough that I could bypass gods weaker than me, under Paivla's guidance. Also, there were some gods I didn't need to kill, since they were neutral.
I was kind of happy about that, because there were some who had given genuine blessings to people I knew and I didn't want to take that away from them. Mother had the blessing of the Wild Goddess, for instance. It was at least one fourth of her power, that blessing. Since gods didn't bless too many people, even if it was only a little bit of power, being able to truly say you had a blessing was a lot.
Where did the gods-turned-back-to-non-gods go?
As Paivla had told me, they were from different worlds. Each time you took their power from them, the only thing keeping them tied to this world, they left in a flash of light.
Some had the angriest looks on their faces, some had confusion. Others were just blank, as if they knew this would happen someday.
Wait! There must be a little bit of confusion right around there. The only gods that get sent back are the ones I stab with the dagger, which so far are the six gods under thirty in ranking. The gods below them in ranking simply lost their right to claim their task from me, which I was perfectly fine with. That way, when I reached the top three of Zuelis, Tiyana, and Arion, no one else could claim a task from me.
