The summer solstice had ended uneventfully for the common people, but for me it was the most down point of my life.
I quietly cleaned up the mess I had made after Arion stepped in and shut me up, putting all the bodies and their missing parts in my storage. The people that had been enslaved, too.
They were dead after all. I had killed them without thinking, depriving life after life of what could have been saved. They didn't even turn into Vampires, I had mutilated them so badly after sucking all their blood out.
Oh, that was another question. Where did all the blood I drank go? There were hundreds of bodies, and only one of me.
No matter. I'll investigate later.
All that mattered to me was how I should explain this mess to the king.
I had made sure nothing was wrong with Andrew before sending him back, erasing the tiny bit of his memory where he got strangled again. The lady had fainted from internal injuries, likely trying to protect each other from the beastkin. I healed her and then put her in the castle's infirmary after consulting the vice captain in Knight's bloody state.
He hadn't attended any of the balls because he was very antisocial, so he was alone when I found him in the barracks. He looked like he was going to puke after smelling the stench and seeing every inch of me was covered, then waved me along after I delivered my instructions.
He was to take care of the free people I had healed, their souls intact again but with no memories of their time there.
Or soul guardians.
They were being held until this mess got sorted out, since I had stupidly killed everyone outside of that room. No survivors, no information. Once someone was dead, there was no rifling through there. That would be desecration, but Knight wasn't one to care about such things.
She just did the dirty work and got over it.
Kiki had been sent home in my place, her work completely done and then some. The king took his rightful place again.
There was something weird that happened when we locked hands to transfer memories, updating what she knew about my current self so there would be no flaw in her [Impersonation] of me. For some reason, when Kiki saw all I did, she was silent.
Then, she smiled. She hugged me in the form of the king, which for some reason didn't surprise me.
"Good job," Kiki whispered in my ear.
She was congratulating me on becoming a full Living Vampire.
I pulled away from her as she transformed into Knight, and she kept on smiling. Well, she was a Demon after all. Of course she'd be happy to have brethren so close by.
I was no longer just an honorary Demon, but a full one now. My Status said so, and stats don't lie.
No matter how impossible it may seem, or how much you deny it, nothing changes.
