A day to remember

Asriel woke up the next morning feeling well rested, having gotten the best sleep he had gotten in a while. Asriel just laid in his bed, staring at his alarm clock for a while before getting up, yawning and stretching wide, several bones popping as a result. Asriel got out of his bed as a scent hit him like a tsunami, making his mouth water. 'Is that bacon and pancakes?' Asriel thought as he left his room, letting his nose lead him to the living room, turning to the small kitchen to see Brittney at the stove. The braixen was humming a tune as she moved bacon with her left paw while flipping pancakes with her right. "Good morning," Asriel said as he went to the cabinet, Brittney replying in kind as Asriel retrieved a glass. "Do you have any plans for today?" Brittney asked as she slid two pancakes on to a plate, several strips of bacon following. "Nothing planned yet. I need to shoot a few emails first to a few pen pals; it has been a while since I communicated with them and I want to check up on them," Asriel responded as he made him and Brittney a cup of Sitrus juice each.

"Alright. Oh, Leirsa and Zoey went with Aqua to go grocery shopping," Brittney informed Asriel, the Lucario nodding as a result. "I was wondering why it was so quiet," Asriel said, getting Brittney to laugh as she set a plate in front of him, sitting down at the counter with her own plate. "So..." Asriel said, trying to think of a topic to talk about.

He failed.

Lucky for him, Brittny saved him. "Hey, I was wondering if you could help me with something. I have been writing a lot as of late, but I need help with a chapter I am stuck on; I really hate writer's block," Brittney said, naming the one curse that affects all writers. "Sure; I have something that can give you ideas if they apply to your story. I have been working on my own novel as well," Asriel replied. "Is it that spiral I have seen you write in for the like, past four months?" Brittney asked. "Yep; I am far into the story, but I haven't gotten to the good parts yet," Asriel acknowledged.

While they ate, Asriel and Brittney discussed their novels, giving a brief summary about their novels. When they finished, Asirel offered to wash the dishes. "You go relax," Asriel told her as he took her dishes. "Thanks," Brittney said, nodding to her boyfriend before going to her room. Turning on the hot water, Asriel put in the soap before he started to wash. 'Where should I take Brittney today? A movie is always a good thing to do, but it is a little on the cliche side. I will need to check what movies are playing before deciding on that. For eats, we could go to VH  casual cafe and bar; there is bound to be food that Brittney will like,' Asriel thought to himself as he started to plan a day out, knowing that his aunt will allow him to go out.

When he finished washing the dishes, Asriel went to his room and sat down at his desk, turning on his computer and entering in his unhackable password of fifty digits. Opening Chrome (personal favorite internet program), he went to his email and signed in. To his complete surprise, Asriel saw that he had received an email from his pen pal in the Kalos region three minutes ago. "Talk about a coincidence," Asriel said to himself as he opened the email, reading what it said.

Hey, Asriel. How are things going up there? I hope that everything is going well. College for me has been fun; I have met lots of new Pokemon here, even making a few friends. How are you doing? I hope your junior year hasn't been too stressful.

Asriel smiled before clicking on the reply button. Things have been great down here. I am doing well in my classes, though I am only having trouble with math. I have made a few new friends this year, one being a braixen named Brittney; she is my girlfriend. We have been together for a few months now and I plan on taking her out tonight; do you have any advice for me? I know that you have a girlfriend as well; I have seen your facebook page.

I know that I may be jumping the gun here, but I have been having dreams, the same one mind you, of me marrying Brittney. I love her with all that I have. Do you have any advice on what to do when I propose? I have a few ideas, though I would like to hear something from someone else.

Sending the email, Asriel went to a new tab and went to Cinemark to look for movies that they could watch together. 'No, not that one; she does not like horror so IT is out of the question. The fifth wave is possible; the book was awesome (Shout out to Rick Yancey). Guardians of the Galaxy 2; high chance that one will work' Asriel thought, seeing that each of the movies was playing at the same time. 'I guess that we could decide when we get to the theater,' Asriel thought to himself, knowing he could not predict which one that Brittney would want to see.

Going back to his email, he was surprised to see that he already had a response from Ricky. Opening it, Asriel started to read what he wrote.

I think the main thing that matters is what she likes. It could be worth taking her out in a date to a place she really likes, and be a gentleman. Hold the door for her, pull out her chair for her, standard stuff. Offer to pay for it as well if you do go out. The second thing I would say would be to be romantic, but don't overdo it. Maybe plan ahead and organize a surprise for her, something you know she'll love. That will surely help you out, but like I said, don't get too carried away. You don't need to organize an entire show or anything, maybe a song or something along those lines. Again, make sure it's something she likes. Next, the ring. This is one of the most important things. If you want to find one she likes, perhaps organize a parent or friend to take her out to see which one she would like if it was ever to happen, and have them report it to you. You could ask yourself, but she may catch on then, and if you can, try and surprise her when you propose. She'll be caught off guard like that. Also, find a unique way to ask her. You could traditionally propose, on one knee, presenting the ring, or you could find a more extravagant way to ask, but again, not too exciting as it takes away the impact of the moment, I suppose you could say. It's about getting the balance between excitement and subtlety right. You don't want to make the night too dull or exciting. You want it to be a memorable one; one you'll look back on fondly in the future. Finally, just be genuine when you go. Put her needs before yours, and if she's the affectionate type, then be there for her, make her feel like she's the only girl in the world. I'm sure she'd appreciate it. In the unlikely case, something goes wrong, be prepared. The worst thing that could happen is something you planned doesn't go right and have a plan if that happens. That's just as a backup of course. If you can, organize something to make the night memorable. That's the most important thing.

So, to sum up, make sure that you make the night about her. It's what makes her happy. Make sure if you're going to organize something, she'll love it, and treat her like a lady. That's important. The setting is important- somewhere quiet might be best. Find her preference of ring- she'll wear that for the rest of her life, so it should be one she likes the look of, but obviously, make it affordable. If money isn't an issue, then you're at an advantage. If you can, surprise her by asking her in a way she wouldn't expect. It adds to the moment, I would think. And finally, probably the most important thing, make sure she's happy throughout the night. If anything is wrong, make sure to comfort and support her. Show her that you can cheer her up if she's feeling down. Though, if you get it right, she'll be the happiest girl in the world at the end of it.

I hope that this helps you; good luck!

Asriel smiled with all the good advice his friend gave him. Hitting the reply button, Asriel told him thanks for what he had told him. Sending the email, Asriel heard a knock come from his door. Closing Chrome, Asriel said that it was open as he turned around. "I got a call from your aunt and she says that if we want to go into town for a while, she said she left the keys to her truck under her pillow. She said to be sure to fill the tank before we come back though," Brittney said, holding her phone and showing Asriel the number. 'Okay, there are WAY too many coincidences going on here' Asriel thought before telling Brittney that he had a few ideas on what to do in town. "I will go change; I'll be out in a few minutes," Brittney said, smiling to Asriel before she left the room. Going to his closet, Asriel chose his clothes for the day. 'Today is going to be a good one, I hope,' Asriel thought to himself with a smile.
