A painful recovery, a surprise attack

Asriel moaned as Brittney gently rubbed his back, hissing when she brushed her paw against still burned parts of his back. "Oh, s-sorry!" Brittney said, applying a new layer of burn salve to her paw before continuing with her work; Asriel sighed with relief as the pain started to fade away. "Why can't I go outside? I am so bored in here!" Asriel whined, sounding like a little kid as Brittney cleaned off her paws on a rag. "Do I need to remind you that the last time you did, Nightmare patted you on the back, causing you to pass out," Brittney replied, getting Asriel to groan. "But I am better now! I can take a little pain!" Asriel said as he started to struggle up.

To prove a point, Brittney just touched Asriel's back. The Lucario screamed in pain as he collapsed again, spasms of pain lacing his body with each movement. "Just rest, okay? You need it," Brittney replied, kissing Asriel on the head before offering to get him something to drink. "Water would be nice," Asriel said. Brittney nodded before she left, only to be replaced by Jake, who looked like he had been through the ringer a few times. He took a seat from across Asriel, looking like he was trying to find something to say.

"Sir, it is fine. You did what any fire-type would have done if someone was messing with there daughters dead body," Asriel said first, making an awkward chuckle. A pause was born, both unable to think of what to say for a while. They were saved when a knock came from the door, Brittney calling for them. "Dinner is ready!" she said, making Asriel chuckle. Jake took a wand from his bed and waved it in a small circle before Asriel felt his weightless. He had to fight down his vomit as his body shifted from the bed and into a wheelchair, the back nice and cold, relaxing his back.

Asriel took a moment to recover and, when he did, wheeled out the chair behind Jake, the hallway smooth with no carpet, only wooden floors in the bunker. Asriel smelled beef stroganoff, making his mouth water as he saw Brittney set the table, steaming bowls at each seat. "You made a good choice," Sarah said, sounding surprised. Asriel smiled to Brittney as he wheeled to a seat beside her, his love sitting down beside him.

After saying a prayer, Asriel picked up his fork, ready to eat. Right before he could, an explosion shook the bunker, Jake cursing as Sarah's head snapped up, her pupils dilated to pinpricks. Before Asriel could say anything, another explosion sounded, making Sarah cry out and bolt form the table, her wand (that is what Asriel calls it) in her hand, a crackling blue fire at the end. "Asriel, we need to get you to safety!" Brittney said, bolting from her chair and grabbing the handles behind him. "Brit, I can still fight! Let me-," Asriel said as, right at the moment, Sarah was blasted right into the wall beside them, falling to the ground in a crumpled heap. "MOM!" Brittney yelled, racing to her side as Asriel wheeled in front of them, an Aura Sphere in one paw, aimed to kill if necessary.

"Well well well, no warm welcome party for me?" a voice said, a delphox whirling a staff said. Brittney looked up in horror slowly, her eyes filling with tears as she cried out something that shook Asriel to the core.

"JASON!" was the name....

The name of Brittney's brother...
