Taylor's pov

Second, third, fourth, and fifth period didn't go by as fast as I wished. Like any other kid wishes to go home, I did, too. Luckily for me it was lunch time and I was excited to get my grub on. I sat down at the table Elya and I usually sit at, at lunch: waiting for her. I take a look at my watch. So far, I've been sitting here for at least thirty minutes. Which was half of my lunch time. Which means it's keeping me from eating!!! You know what? Fuck it. I've been waiting here patiently for Elya to come and sit here and eat with me at lunch, but I guess she decided to take a rain check on me today.

I bent down into my bookbag and pulled out my lunch bag. I eagerly pulled out the subway sandwich that I bought yesterday and didn't finish. I bit into it knowing how good it felt to actually eat something. As I took a second bite, I saw Elya entering the cafeteria. Oh now your ass shows up? I thought pissed.

She takes a seat without a word and smiled at me. As I observed her, I realized that she was sweating like hell was burnin' her ass. "Where have you been? I've been waiting patiently for you. And why are you sweating so hard?" I finally asked, curious.

She lets out a small chuckle. "Calm down mum." She laughed.

I rolled my eyes. "Just answer the got damn questions." I say with clearly annoyance in my voice.

"You know I have fifth period gym. And I kind of was being a smart arse towards the coach so he made me run the track twelve times around." She explained. It was kind of funny when she tries to say the word 'ass', but then ends up saying 'arse'. It's not like she can help it, anyways. Her Australian accent is very heavy.

At least that explains why she's so sweaty and late for for lunch. "Why didn't you shower?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I was hungry so I skipped taking a shower and ate a peanut-butter sandwich in the locker room." She explained. Elya for some strange reason despises jelly of any sort. "Sorry I didn't come straight here and eat. I couldn't wait anymore to not eat." She added.

"That's alright. I know the feeling. Trust me ,I've been waiting for you and couldn't take it anymore when you didn't show up." I explained to her matching her situation.

I took two more bites into my sandwich. I was about to say something about Kacine, when I caught Elya staring from the entrance to a diagonal line across the cafeteria. Instead of asking who she was staring at, I followed her gaze. She was staring at a cheerleader. But not just any cheerleader. It was Samantha, Kacine's best friend. The main person I will admit that I am jealous of. Only because she gets to hang out around Kacine 24/7.

Samantha walks over to a table full of jocks and greets one of them with a kiss on the cheek. She then sits on his lap, while rapping one of her arms around him. I looked away from them as I saw a sudden movement out of the corner of my eye. Elya gets up and I grabbed her wrist. "Where are you going? You just got here." I stated.

She didn't look at me instead she looked the opposite way as I did. "I'm going outside to get some fresh air." She says.

I give her a confused look. "Didn't you just come from outside?" I asked her.

She shrugged. "Yeah, but I just need to take a time out for a second." She says looking at me now.

I can tell something's wrong with her, but I can't really figure out what. She never mentioned she was having problems. "Oh, okay. I was gonna ask you if you wanted to talk about you 'you know who'- " I said refering to Kacine. "At least that's what you said before we took off for second period. But I guess I can take a rain check." Elya smiled at me, but it looks forced. "Are you okay?" I finally asked.

"Yeah, I'm totally fine. I just need some fresh air, like I said." As I stare into her eyes I can tell she's about to cry. I can see tears in her eyes, but she's keeping them in. Instead of fighting with her about what she's really feeling, I decided to let go of her wrist and let her go outside for some fresh air. I sighed. "Alright. Well I'll see you in eighth period then?" She smiled another forced smile and nodded her 'yes', then leaves me here alone once again.

I hope that breath of of fresh air helps her out with whatever she's dealing with, currently. I turn my head back towards the table full of jocks and now cheerleaders, too. I look Samantha's way and she was actually looking my way before I turned around. We lock eyes for a second. She then gives me a fainted smile. She doesn't really look all that happy. She actually looks pretty hurt. I look away from her and take another bite of my sandwich.

Hhmm, I wonder what that was all about? I thought. The bell rings and I pack up my sandwich and save it for later. I then leave the cafeteria.
