Chapter Seven

Kacine's pov

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. Ugh, why? I don't want to go to school. Why does it have to be so early? I thought. I hit the button on my alarm clock, cutting it off. I groaned pulling my pillow over my head. I suddenly felt a vibration next to me. "Uggghhh. Who could be texting me this early in the morning?" I complained.

I took my phone into my hands and squinted at the screen. As soon as I saw the name on the screen, my eyes instantly shot open. It was a text from Taylor!!! I sat up on my bed and read the text message.

Taylor: "I know it's kind of early, but I just wanted to be the first one to tell you good morning. :-D"

I smiled at the text. About a hundred butterflies were flying around in my stomach. Oh my Gosh. She was so sweet, I thought.

Me: "Well, congratulations. You were the first person to greet me. And good morning to you too, babe. :-D"

As I waited for a reply, I got up and rushed to the bathroom and quickly brushed my teeth. I guess I found a new motivation to actually get up in the morning. I came out of the bathroom jumping back on my bed. There was another text from Taylor.

Taylor: "Whoa, there. When did we get to this stage? Lol ;-)"

*I was a little confused of what she was talking about.* Me: "Huh? I'm confused."

Taylor: "Lol... you called me 'babe'."

My eyes suddenly widen in shock. I re-read the text that I had sent to her earlier. Oh my heavenly father. I just called her 'babe'!! I guess I was so caught up in the moment that I accidentally typed the wrong words.

Me: "Oh my God, Taylor. I didn't mean it that way. I'm straight."

Wait a minute, what? That was a total lie!! I instantly started texting Taylor back before she could respond, but it was to late.

Taylor: "Oh...um...okay? :-("

As I read the text, my heart just dropped. No, no, no, no, no!! It was a lie. Wait, is that a sad face? Oh, no I hurt her. Without hesitation I quickly came up with a reply.

Me: "Wait no, Taylor. I didn't mean it. I was joking!! I swear."

I waited for a few seconds. No reply. I sighed. No, this can't be happening. I have a crush on her. Now all my chances of being with her are ruined.

I sat my phone down on my bed, finally giving up. I went over to my closet and picked out something to wear. When I was finished getting ready, I headed downstairs into the kitchen. I'm guessing today was the day my Mom didn't have to go to work because she was in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee. She was a nurse and they had her waking up pretty early if you ask me. "Morning." I greeted.

"Morning. How did you sleep?" She asked.

"I slept good." I replied, flatly.

"Are you okay, honey?" She asked, noticing my misery inside.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Another lie. Wow, Kacine. That's what got you into the mess with Taylor.

I heard a horn blowing outside. It was Samantha's way of telling me she was here. Since we lived in the same neighborhood, she would take me to and from school everyday. I grabbed a cold water bottle out of the fridge and ran out the house into Samantha's car.

Samantha pulled into the student parking lot and parked in an empty space. She took the keys out of the ignition, turning off the engine. She then turned towards me with a blank stare. "What is wrong with you?" She finally asked. "You were completely silent the whole car ride. Did Taylor not call you?" She asked again.
