The next morning, Finn entered the school, looking all around for any sign of Millie, although the only thing he new about her appearance is that she's kind of small.  He was walking and looking around, completely unaware of the fact he was about to run directly into non other than Millie herself.

But of course, Finn didn't know it was her. Millie's books fell to the floor as Finn was snapped back to reality.

Millie panicked, and turned on her best American accent.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention," Finn quickly apologizes and crouches down to pick up some of her books.

Finn pauses, a little mesmerized by the golden brown eyes staring, almost frightfully back at him.

"That's okay, it was just an accident," Millie responds, sounding perfectly American.

Finn mentally sighs, Not her, Millie is definitely British.

"Uhm, well, I gotta get to class. Bye." Millie says to Finn in a rush, speed walking to her first period.

Finn shrugs it off.

-

In math class, Finn was quick to tell his best friends, Caleb, Gaten, and Noah, about the mystery girl in the tree.

"That's the weirdest love story I've ever heard," Caleb says.

Finn rolls his eyes so hard that they could've fallen out of his head.

"It's not a love story, I just want to know who she is," Finn replies.

"So that you can date her," Gaten adds quickly, suppressing a chuckle.

"MY GOD," Finn whisper yells, "no!"

Noah laughs and shakes his head.

"So do any of you know her?" Finn asks.

"Remind me what her name is again?" Caleb says.

"Millie."

"Hm, Millie... Millie."

"I've heard that red head chick, Sadie, talk about someone named Millie, she's says that Millie is her best friend."

"Then I should talk to Sadie."

Noah sighs, "Sadie is in my English class, she's not here today."

-

Finn rolls up the sleeves of his jean jacket and ruffles his hair before meeting up with his friends at the garden.

"This is your place? God Finn you're such a sissy," Caleb says jokingly.

Finn pops the collar of his jean jacket. "Says the guy who still sleeps with a night light," Finn fires back.

"ROAST," Gaten says, his voice cracking.

The four friends burst out into laughter. "Never gets old," Noah says.

Finn shushes his friends and quietly takes them to the tree that the mysterious girl always sings in.

They wait behind a different tree, hoping to catch a line if a song, or even a hum. But there is only the rustling of the trees and the quiet whistle of the wind. Finn walks up to the tree.

"Millie?" He calls out.

He looks up, unable to make out any colors you wouldn't find on a tree. Finn sighs.

Caleb shakes his head, "Look man, if you need a girlfriend, ask someone out. Don't go through a bunch of weird-ass lies about a girl in a-"

"She's real Caleb!"

"Suuuure," Gaten and Caleb say in unison.

"I believe you Finn. I heard a girl singing once, after school in the tech wing basement. She had the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, and she sounded British. Maybe that could be her, maybe that was Millie," Noah says to the three boys, catching Finn's attention.

"Finn, you're not the type to go on a goose chase for some girl," Caleb says.

"Yeah, where's bad boy Finn," Gaten chuckles.

Finn ruffled his dark curls,"You guys are right, I shouldn't worry so much. Hell, I shouldn't be trying to find this chick."

And it was after those words, that's Millie's heart broke a little, up in a different tree. She knew it wasn't right to be sad about it, since she didn't talk to him. She bit her lip, thinking about how she might've just lost her chance.

Millie was too afraid to even respond to Finn, even if he was calling her name. she watched carefully as Finn and his friends walked across the small grass field, sitting on a bench. She could smell cigarette smoke in the wind.

Are they smoking? Or is that someone else? Millie asked herself in her head. She squinted, but it was far to hard to make out what the four boys were doing.

-

Millie sighed loudly on her balcony, she turned the page in her notebook, continuing to write notes for her assignment.

Sadie plopped down beside her, "So are you going to tell me more about the boy you see at the park or do I have to guess?"

Sadie looked at Millie, her piercing blue eyes staring into Millie's golden brown ones.

Millie sets down her pencil, "Well, I've seen him there a lot, but it was only last week when I accidentally let him catch me singing."

Millie lied down in her back, staring at the clouds.

"And and couple days went by, and there he was again, right when I was singing," Millie laughed awkwardly.

"Okay, aaaaand?" Sadie asked, yearning for more details.

"Well, yesterday he sang along with me! We talked for like two seconds, but I freaked out. I didn't want him to know who I was so I jumped out of the tree and bolted."

Sadie face palms herself. "Millie, WHY would you do that? You were talking to your crush!"

A moment of silence passes by.

"By the way, who is it?" Sadie asks, regretting not already knowing her best friend's crush.

"Uh.... it's Finn Wolfhard."

Sadie squeaks, "The delicious, curly-haired, jean jacket wearing one?"

Millie giggles, "That would be him."

Sadie pulls Millie up from the ground,"So what's your plan?"

"My plan?" Millie asks, dumbfounded.

"You know," Sadie waves her arms around, "your plan for project talk-to-Finn-Wolfhard?"

Millie catches on, "Oh, I don't know."

"Then we have some work to do, sit down," Sadie sits on Millie's bed and pats the bed next to her.

And the two girls made a plan, or so they thought.
