Romeo and Millie stepped outside, the sky was now dark, and the air was cool.
They walked slowly, Millie was slightly behind so she could see where his car was.
"Thanks for driving me home, I came with my friend Sadie, but I know she would want to stay longer. And I don't think I could've lasted."
Romeo smiles, and wipes a tear off of his cheek, "Yeah, no problem."
"I'm sorry about Maddie," Millie said genuinely.
"Thanks, I just don't know why she-" Romeo cuts himself off, "You know what, let's just forget about that."
They reach his black impala and he opens the door for her, "M'lady.""Thank you, good sir," Millie responded, her British accent even more crisp.
They both get into the car and look at each other for a second. They burst out into laughter.
Romeo starts the car, "So where do yo live?"
"You know the community garden?"
Romeo nods, and starts to pull out of the driveway.
"My house is directly across the street from that."
"That's cool, I wish I lived that close to it, I love it there."
Millie looks over at him, "Really?"
"Yeah, my dad took me and my sister there to play every Sunday when we were kids."
"Awe that's sweet, I still go all the time."
"What do you do there?" Romeo asked, his chocolate brown eyes stared at Millie for a good second, but he looked back to the road.
"I go there to do homework, to think, it's really pretty there. I mostly go there to si-" Millie cuts herself off.
"You go there to sing?" He asks curiosity getting the best of him. He slows down and stops the car next to the garden.
Millie blushes, embarrassed. "Uh- y-yeah."
God she's cute, Romeo thinks, oh my god this can't be happening to me.
"I think that's really cool," he said, turning off the engine and ruffling his light brown hair.
"Show me were you like to go," he said, getting out of the car.
Millie smiled, "Okay."
They walked through the garden towards Millie's favorite spot.
"It's so different at night," Romeo said.
"Yeah, a different kind of beautiful," Millie agreed. Romeo couldn't help but think that Millie was a different kind of beautiful. A no face-full-of-makeup beautiful, a no long hair and dresses beautiful, and he loved it.
"Here it is, this tree right near this pond." Millie points to a big oak tree with lots of good stubs and branches to climb. They sit underneath the tree.
*meanwhile*
Finn was out of there, he didn't stop to say goodbye to anyone, Millie had to know the truth. He didn't know what it was, but he couldn't let Millie think Finn was that kind of guy. He liked Millie, he wasn't sure what kind of like, but he knew one thing; she could NOT hate him.
So, he decided he was going to look for her. Where would she be? A moment passes by as Finn sits in his car. Then, it hits him, the garden! Finn knew that Millie went there a lot, especially when she needed to think or was emotional, and by the look in her eyes when Finn walked inside, he had a feeling that she'd be there.
He started his (mom's) car, and drove off.
*back at the garden*
"So you come here to sing?"
Millie blushes, "Yeah."
A moment of silence passes, Romeo looks at Millie as if to say weeeeellllllll?
"Well, let's hear some then," he said enthusiastically.
Millie scoffed, "Noooo, I sound like a dying cat."
Romeo laughs, "Please?"
"I don't know..."
"I gave you a ride home!" He jokes.
"That's true, okay.... Fine."
Millie takes a deep breath, "Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me, but bare this is mind it was meant to be."
Romeo gasps, struck with awe.
"Wow," he whispers. Millie's cheeks turn deep red, but she keeps singing.
"And I won't let these little things slip -out of my mouth, but if I do, it's you, oh it's you they add up to."
Romeo smiles.
Finn pulled up onto the space by the garden, surprised to see a familiar black impala already parked in his spot.
What's Romeo doing here?
Finn looked across the garden and saw two people sitting underneath a tree, he had to know if it was Millie with Romeo.
Silently, he sprinted towards them, but they were facing away from Finn, and had no idea we was there.
As Finn got closer, he made out the shape of Millie's short wavy hair, and as he got even closer, he heard her voice.
"And I'm in love with you, and all you're little things," Millie sings.
Finn felt his eyes sting, but his eyes were completely dry. He felt a small piece of his hope crumple.
Already singing a love song to him? or maybe she's just singing...
He had no idea what to do.
Do I leave? Do I go over and talk to them? Do I try and talk to Millie alone? Do I beat up Romeo- no I would never he's my friend, and Millie's just some girl... a beautiful, sweet, angel-voiced girl.
I just want a chance to know her better. I have to fix this.
To be continued...
