"So what song should we cover?" Gaten asks, setting down a cooler with sodas. Finn grabs out a Sprite, opens it, and takes a swig in one swift motion.

The teenagers watched in awe as Finn did that all super quickly. He looks around at their staring eyes in confusion, "What?"

They all shake their heads, "Never mind," Noah and Sadie mumble spontaneously.

"Anyways, song ideas?" Caleb restates Gaten's question.

"Maybe something by Dodie?" Millie perks up.

"Who?" Everyone says in unison. Millie slumps back on the couch, a tiny bit disappointed. "Never mind."

"Awe sorry Millie..... hey! Maybe you can do a solo!" Finn suggests.

Millie shakes her head violently, "Definitely not!"

Finn frowns, "Awh, why not?"

"You know exactly why not, Finn," Millie replies.

"No, actually, Millie, I don't. I don't know why not," Finn says earnestly.

Millie sighs, "I have awful stage fright, you're lucky enough I am even signing in this band. I-I mean, what if I do horribly and the audience hates me, or worse, they laugh at me?"

Finn rolls his eyes, starting to get mad at Millie for putting herself down, "Millie you're amazing!"

"Yes, you're amazing Mills!" Sadie adds honestly.

Millie shakes her head, "You're just saying that because you're my friends."

"FOR CHRIST'S SAKE MILLIE!" Gaten screams, his speech peppered with voice cracks. Earning a laugh out of Caleb and Finn.

"Millie, we're your friends, friends don't lie. This is the truth; you are an amazing singer," Finn says sweetly, making Millie blush from the complement.

They all nod their heads in agreement. Millie looks at her hands, hoping they'd start a new topic. Noah notices this, and speaks up, "Maybe we can do I Want You Back, by Jackson 5?"

Everyone's eyes light up, who doesn't love that song?

Sadie jumps up and down ,"OH MY GOD-"

Millie squeals, "I LOVE THAT SONG-"

"AND THE HARMONIES WILL BE SO DOABLE!" Gaten shouts.

"THE CROWD WILL GO WILD!" Caleb adds.

"AND I ALREADY KNOW THE CHORDS ON MY GUITAR!"

"SAME HERE WITH THE DRUMS!" Noah high-fives Finn.

As the friends converse excitedly, Finn pulls Millie aside, "I know you'll sound beautiful when you sing this song," he whispers.

Millie smiles, her gaze trailing from his dark eyes, to his pink lips. Finn smirks, knowing exactly what she's thinking. They both lean in, and share a kiss. Their lips move together in sync, perfect, like the harmonies of a song. The smile into the kiss and pull away slowly.

Then, they realize that the room had fell silent, and all eyes were on them. Most of their friends has their mouths gaping open, except for Sadie, who was squealing under her breath. Millie rolls her eyes, they already know they've kissed before.

This gets Millie thinking, is this just some sort of kissing buddy thing, or does he want something more? Does he want me to be his girlfriend? Does he have real feelings for me? What would happen if-

Knock knock

There was a knock on the door of Gaten's basement, snapping Millie out of her thought. "Come in!" Gaten said, assuming it was his mom.

Instead of seeing a grown woman with curly brunette hair, their stood a teenage boy with ashy blonde hair.

"Oh, hey Romeo..."

"Hey guys! Did you figure out a song?"

They all nod.

"What is it?" Romeo sets his backpack down.

"I Want You Back, by Jackson 5," Finn says, excitement laced through his voice.

"Sweet!" Romeo smiles

There's an awkward pause of silence.

"Well, Let's just give it a go!" Gaten suggests.

"Gotta start somewhere," Caleb agrees.

"Best to just see how we sound before working on anything else," Sadie joins in.

"Alright," Finn picks up his electric guitar and plugs it in.

Noah sits behind the drums, twirling the sticks in his hands a few times. Everyone is surprised when Romeo sits behind the keyboard.

"I think I remember how to play this on the piano," he scratches his head.

"Woah woah woah," Millie interrupts, " you play the piano?"

"Yep," Romeo says, popping the 'p'.

"Nice."

Noah starts with a quiet and steady tempo, to indicate the song is starting. Then, Romeo comes in with the note slide, and Finn starts with the guitar as Noah's drumming escalates.

When I had you to myself, I didn't want you around. Finn sang.

Gaten followed, those pretty faces always made you stand out in a crowd.

Caleb took the next line, then someone picked you from the bunch, one glance was all it took.

Millie and Noah sang together, now it's much too late for me to take a second look.

Millie and Sadie sang the chorus with perfect harmonies, Oh baby give me one more chance, to show you that I love you, won't you please let me, back in you heart.

The boys joined in for the rest of the chorus, and the song went on.

As Romeo played the last note of the song, the teens began to cheer. Finn set his guitar down and Romeo and Noah stood up.

"YO, WE SOUNDED GOOD THO!" Caleb said excitedly.

"BUT WE DID!" Sadie exclaims.

"AND GATEN YOUR RIFFS!" Millie complimented with a shout.

"BUT YOUR RIFFS MILLIE!" He replied with equal excitement.

"And Romeo! Holy shit my dude," Finn pats Romeo on the back as the friends begin to quiet down.

"You played amazingly Finn," Millie says as she intertwines her fingers with his. "And you did amazing as well Noah, not once was the tempo unsteady!"

Romeo eyes them jealously.

"We're going to win the battle of the Bands thing, aren't we?" Sadie asks, half joking, and half serious.

Caleb grins widely, "Sadie Sink, I think you may be right."
