Thank you guys so much for 3k reads!
Millie walks into the school yard hesitantly, not sure what she'll do if she sees Finn.
"Millie!" A familiar voice shouts, Millie turns around and smiles.
"Romeo!" He jogs towards her, "How are you, Mills?"
Millie looks at the ground, and shrugs, "I miss him."
Romeo's smile falters, "I'm sorry Millie. Do you think he misses you?"
"I-I don't know," She sighs.
Romeo looks around, and spots Finn, laughing beside a glowing, golden haired girl. He points at them, "There's your answer."
It feels like she's trying to rub it in or something, Millie sighs.
Millie's eyes sting, but she blinks rapidly, determined not to let any tears fall. She takes a few steps towards the front doors.
"Millie!" Sadie shouts, running towards Millie with her red hair flowing behind her.
"Hey Sadie!" Millie uses a fake smile. She loves Sadie, but she's just not cheerful right now.
"Millie, you don't have to pretend to be joyful for me, you're my best friend. Come on, let's talk before school starts?" Sadie reaches out her hand to Millie, and Millie grabs it.
She turns to Romeo, "Bye Romeo, talk to you later."
He waved goodbye. Sadie pulls Millie towards the entrance of the school, they catch the attention of Finn and Iris. Finn's eyes widen. He sprints over to them, not bothering to yell Millie's name and give her a chance to walk away.
"Millie," he wheezes.
"Finn."
"I know I've got a lot of explaining to do. But hear me out, I miss you so much. And I'd never cheat on you, ever. The kiss that happened with Iris... was just a huge misunderstanding-"
Millie scoffs, how can a kiss be a "misunderstanding"?
"Iris will tell you! I swear- I just, we used to be a thing, but now we're not, and- just meet me at the park tomorrow, our spot, please?"
Millie gives in to his puppy dog eyes, "Fine."
Finn smiles. Millie's heart beats faster.
"What time?"
"Seven. And uh, is it okay you hang out with Iris before you come over to the park?" Finn shuffles his feet.
"What? Why?" Millie bites her bottom lip in confusion.
"Just, trust me."
"...Okay."
The bell rings, "Oh, we better get to class. See ya, Finn! Come on Millie," Sadie breaks the awkwardness and pulls Millie into the school.
"Why are you hanging out with Romeo so much?" Sadie whispers through her teeth.
"Because he was there for me, when none of you guys were, when Finn kissed Iris," Millie said with a tinge of salt.
Sadie stopped in her tracks, "oh, Millie I'm so sorry, I didn't even think- cause I didn't know until lunch, but then Finn came over to Gaten's- and"
"Sadie, it's okay."
Sadie gives Millie an innocent and surprised look, as if to say, really?
Millie nods, smiling faintly, saying, really.
School was the same as usual, boring. Language Arts was the most bearable today, they had free reading time for almost the whole period because they had a substitute.
Millie allowed herself to be absorbed by the beautiful and relatable writing of Dodie Clarke. Millie usually didn't like youtuber books most of the time, but there was something different. Secrets for the Mad is what it's called, honestly such I good book, I highly recommend if you love Dodie.
As Millie walked to her locker, dozing off and think about a quote from the book she was reading previously. Millie aspired to be a powerful lyricist just like her someday.
Millie was quietly singing a song to herself by Dodie, that hit way too close to home, "How stupid to think, that I could compare to the pretty girl with the butterscotch hair."
Millie kept walking, looking down at her shoes, "And I won't hate you, but oh, it stings. How does it feel to be adored by him?"
Millie was so spaced out that she didn't even realize she was about to walk straight into-
"Finn!" She says surprised, after walking straight into him and then falling backwards.
He wraps his arms tightly around her waist before she hits the floor, he pulls her up with a wide grin on his face.
Millie's heart flutters, she just can't
stay mad at him for long."You really fell for me there," he flirts jokingly.
"Guess I did," Millie blushes.
An awkward moment of silence passes them by, "I'll see you tomorrow," Millie says softly.
"See you tomorrow."
Finn continues walking in the opposite direction, walking to his locker.
"What was that?" An amused Iris says.
"She ran into me, quite literally," Finn chuckles.
"That was some smooth shit Wolfhard!" Gaten says from behind Iris, making her giggle a lot.
Finn squints his eyes, "Is there something going on between you two?"
"What? No!" They say in unison.
"Right... anyway, I can't hang out at the library today, I want to practice my song for Millie."
"Okay, see you later Finn!"
"Later Finnlard!"
Gaten and Iris walk off together, and Finn grabs his stuff from his locker, a toothy smiles spreading across his freckled cheeks.
They'd be cute together. Similar sense of humor, oh yes, I can see all the vine jokes now...
