Romeo and Millie sit on her bed, papers sprawled everywhere, and MacDemarco's My Kind Of Woman playing in the background.
"It's kind of nice, knowing another person with a British accent," Millie says jokingly.
"I agree with you Millie, we can even share jokes about how we say stuff differently then people here."
Millie smiles, and looks back down at her paper.
Millie is wearing black glasses, which Romeo didn't even know she had. He still think she's cute with them, really cute.
Millie tosses her Math folder to the side and rubs her temples with her forefingers. She sighs, "I'm done with math right now," She says exasperated.
Romeo chuckles, and stuffs his Math work into his binder. He notices the song playing at half volume on Millie's radio.
"Oh baby. Oh man. You're making me crazy, you're making me mad."
The both sung simultaneously. Both of their eyes widen, "No way!" They say together. They start to laugh at their same choice of words."Ugh, okay, honestly I'm not going to even study for Spanish. Mrs. Novoa literally sucks at teaching, and I suck at memorizing stuff- not a good combo."
"Same," Romeo agrees, unable to wipe the toothy grin off of his face.
God, she is beautiful.
Iris stands outside, the sun setting, looking up at the lit up window of Millie's room, she's on the phone. She offered to look for Millie with Finn, mostly because this whole situation is mostly her fault. Iris felt so guilty about it, she drove Finn's girlfriend away.
"She's home, but it looks like there is someone else in here room."
"Wait you're looking into her window? Jesus!"
"Do you want to know who she's with or not?"
"Who?" Finn says on the other side of the call.
"Let me get a better look," Iris moves forward, squinting to try and focus, "it's a boy, with dirty blonde hair."
Finn's blood boils, "Romeo. What are they doing?"
"I'd have to climb a tree to see that, I can only see their heads."
There's an awkward silence, Finn clears his throat.
"Fine, I'll climb the damn tree."
"Thank you."
"Look I'm going to hang up and just text you okay?"
"Okay, bye."
Iris shoves her phone into her back pocket and starts climbing the tree, located in front of the Browns' house, slightly to the right of Millie's window.
Oh god, please don't see me.
Iris perches her foot on a branch, using the one above her to pull her up higher. She can finally see inside the room.
There's papers all over her bed, they're probably studying or doing homework. I told Finn he had nothing to worry about, Millie couldn't possibly move on that fast. They're talking a lot though, laughing. Hmmm.
Iris hops down from the tree and walks to her car. She gets into the drivers seat and pulls out her phone.
Iris: they're just studying. But they're laughing too, seem to be getting along.
Finn: okay, thanks for helping me look for her... I have no clue what to do now though.
Iris: I wouldn't show up at her house, might come across as, stalkery, idk.
Finn: You're probably right, but I want to fix things as soon as possible.
Iris: Idk
Finn: I'll talk to you tomorrow, let's talk to her at lunch yeah?
Iris: ok
Iris shuts off her phone. Millie is one lucky gal.
"MILLIE! DINNER!"
"Okay!" Millie shouts back at her mother, she sets her pencil down and gets off of her bed, and head down stairs. Romeo follows close behind her.
"Mum, it's smells deli-"
Millie cut herself off once she saw the food her mother made, spaghetti, Finn told her that's his favorite food the day he kissed her for the first time, when they were walking to the park.
It's funny how the smallest thing can make her think of him. Her eyes fill up with tears, she blinks them away quickly, so her mom doesn't see.
Millie sits down at the table, three plates already set down, "Where's Charlie and Ava? And Dad?" Millie asks confused as to why she hasn't seen them in a couple of days.
"They're off on some weird road trip to a city about one hundred miles away to see this indie band, although I had no idea Ava liked them as well," Mrs.Brown replies while taking off her apron.
"Oh cool, what band?"
"I've forgotten the name."
Millie nods her head in response, slightly disappointed that she was invited. Then again, Millie couldn't afford to miss school anyways. Romeo sits down in the chair next to Millie. He smiles down at the delicious looking food.
"Thank for you dinner Mrs. Brown," he says politely.
"You're very welcome," she smiles and sits across from Millie and Romeo.
Millie reaches for her glass of water and takes a small sip, not making eye contact with anything but the plate in front of her. She blinks a couple times, assuring herself that her eyes are dry, and lifts her head.
"Thanks mum."
Her mother nods and grabs her fork, proceeding to eat some grilled vegetables on the side of her plate.
Millie twists her fork in the spaghetti, and smiles faintly, thinking about Finn.
She looks up, having been snapped out of her thoughts by the extremely loud slurping sound coming from her right.
Romeo is really struggling to get that one noodle all the way in his mouth, he's even gotten tiny specks of tomato sauce on his face.
Millie just can't keep it together, she breaks out into a fit of giggles, her mother and Romeo join in.
"Sometimes, I want to use scissors whenever I eat noodles, like that one guy I showed you on Facebook the other day," he says. Millie nods her head.
"Same."
"Millie, you haven't touched your vegetables yet!" Mrs. Brown cuts in.
"I'm getting there mum!" Millie snaps jokingly, and stabs a slice of grilled zucchini with her fork.
Romeo chuckles
Finn you best come up with that plan fast...
