Anyway, onto the story.
Millie walked across the street to the lively garden. The wind carried the sent of the sweet spring flowers, Millie took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. The nervousness mixed with the butterflies made her feel light headed, but she ignored the feeling and scanned the garden for Finn.
At first, she didn't see him. Millie began to feel worried, did he bail?
But then, her worry washed away when he saw the back of his head, his messy dark curls. Her smile grew wider as she quickened her pace, eager to hear what he has to say.
Her smile dropped.
There he was, Finn Wolfhard, the most amazing guy she ever met, walking- no, running and getting into Romeo's car, with the golden haired girl that she thought she had finally made amends with in the backseat.
Her amber eyes sting, but no tears fall. Millie clenches her fists as she see's Finn and Iris's heads through the back window of the black, sleek car.
She laughs bitterly, rolling her eyes at herself. Of course.
"How could I have been so stupid?"
Millie walks forward, the world around her becoming disfigured as her tears blur her vision. The new image of the garden mimicked her emotions. No clear start or end to anything, just one big blur of several colors.
The raven haired boy with the mellifluous voice stole her heart, but there he was, driving off with it.
Millie let herself fall to her knees, the warm sun and the sweet grass making her heart break a little more bearable.
Millie knew one thing, she was never going to let Finn, or anyone else, break her heart like that ever again. No matter what it takes.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice?
Shame on me.
*Flashback to five minutes before Millie arrived at the garden*
Iris felt a buzz against her leg, realizing it was her phone, she picked it up, "Hey Romeo.... what? He, he changed his mind? .... are you sure, are you serious?" Her heart jumps.
Iris immediately starting sprinting to Romeo's car as it came into sight, a giant smile spreads across her face. She hangs up the phone.
Romeo adjusts his rear view mirror, a devilish grin etches his face. He unlocks the car doors, allowing Iris to hop inside.
"Finn really told you?"
"Yes, really."
"He likes, me?" Iris asks more to herself than to Romeo.
Romeo laughs whole heartedly (or so it seemed) "Yes Iris, we're going to pick him up right now, and he has a surprise for you."
Iris's cheeks heat up, surprise? They pull up to the garden, and spot Finn immediately.
Romeo ruffles his hair, let's do this.
"I'll go get him, you stay in the car."
Romeo creeps in the grass behind the oblivious Finn, and snatches his guitar case from behind him, which was sitting conveniently on the ground. Romeo sprints back to his car, laughing silently.
Once he reaches his car, he shouts, "HEY WOLFHARD, COME GET YOUR GUITAR!"
Finn whips around, cussing loudly and running to the car as Romeo puts it in the middle seat next to Iris and hops in the driver seat. Finn finally catches up and opens the car door, wheezing.
"What the fuck man," he chuckles, knowing it was only sport. Finn gets in the car to get a good hold of his guitar, as he was terrified to drop it, and it was stuck in between the end of the backseat chair and the back of the front seat chair. Finn struggles to get his guitar out of the tight space.
The heavy car door slam shut behind Finn, and Romeo stepped on the gas immediately.
Completely blinded by butterflies, Iris didn't notice that there was anything wrong with the situation.
"So, you picked me?" She blushes.
Finn panics.
"Romeo drive back! I have to meet Millie like right now!"
"What?" Iris's smile disappears.
Romeo shakes his head, "No can do, buddy."
"Finn, didn't you want to come here, Romeo told me you-"
"Guys what if she doesn't give me another chance! Please turn back!"
Finn turns around in the seat, looking through the back window. He sees the shrinking silhouette of a beautiful brunette in a white dress, sinking to her knees in the field of green.
Hot tears pool in Finn's dark eyes, running over his freckled cheeks.
Romeo smiles in his mirror, the angle allowing him to see Finn perfectly. Mission accomplished.
Back to Millie
Millie lays there with her eyes closed, the grass beginning to irritate her skin. But she has no energy to go home, none to stand up, or even sit up. The golden sky made her tears sparkle.
Never again. He will never break my heart again. And even though I resent him for it, it's my fault for falling twice. There will be no third.
THE END
I'm sorry! I know y'all hate me right now. Don't worry, I plan on writing a sequel to this story, Finn and Millie's story is not over yet.
