After Millie finished singing, all Romeo could do was sit in awe. An awkward moment of silence passes, until Romeo finally speaks up.
"The prettiest dying cat I ever heard, wait I didn't mean- remember earlier when you said- I meant that I-"
Millie giggled and cut him off, "It's fine I know what you meant."
Romeo calms down, And stares at Millie.
"You have beautiful eyes."
Millie blushes, "Thanks."
The two are startled when they hear loud footsteps pounding towards them, they turn around to see none other than Finn Wolfhard.
Millie feels a lump form in her throat as she forces herself not to freak out, not to cry.
"Millie- can I talk to you- for a second- please," Finn says, panting in between his words.
Millie is shocked, why would he want to talk to me, after what HE did?
But Millie was too curious to say no, "Sure, I'll be back Romeo, if you want to stay, that is."
Romeo just nods in response.
Finn stretches his hand out to help Millie up, and she takes it, immediately regretting it, because the moment she touched his hand, she felt that undeniable, indescribable buzz.
Finn pulled Millie up and let go of her hand, he lead her to the other side of the garden.
"Millie, before you say anything, about what happened with Maddie, it was not what it looked like."
"Really? It looked like to me that you ditched me and went to go make out with her," Millie said sternly.
"No that wasn't what happened, you see-"
"Why do you even care what I think, Finn?"
Finn sighs, "I don't want you to hate me. I want a chance to get to know you."
Millie's face softens,"Okay, I'm listening."
"I was having a great time dancing with you Millie," Finn starts, Millie blushes at his words.
"But Maddie pulled me away, outside. I thought she wanted to talk or something. But almost immediately, she forced herself onto me,"
"How do I know you're not lying?" Millie asked.
"I'm great friends with Romeo, I would never do that to him. I swear I pushed Maddie off, but she tried again, and when I pushed her off the second time, she started crying."
Millie looked confused,"Why was she crying?"
"She started to cry, because she thought Romeo was flirting with you," Millie looked at Finn with a confused and disgusted expression. Finn nodded, "Yeah, that's why she kissed me."
Millie laughed, "Me? She thought Romeo was flirting, with me? We were just talking! Besides why would he flirt with me when he already has her."
"What do you mean by that?" Finn asked.
Millie looked down at her feet, and said nothing.
"Millie-"
"I meant, why would Romeo flirt with me when he already has a beautiful girlfriend, and I'm just... me."
Finn scoffed, "Millie you're beautiful-"
Finn covered his mouth, realizing what he just said. His cheeks were nearly glowing red."You think I'm beautiful, Wolfhard?" Millie said, looking up at him.
"Yeah, I mean, w-who wouldn't?" Finn stuttered.
Millie blushed even harder, but said nothing.
"So you didn't kiss Maddie, on purpose?"
"No... Millie, you believe me, don't you?"
"I don't know..."
"Trust me, Maddie and I dated once on a blue moon, did not work out. I would NEVER do that again."
This made Millie giggle, "Okay, okay, I believe you."
Finn smiles, not his cocky smirk, a big goofy smile, which makes Millie's heart flutter.
"Okay, well uh, see you at school?" Finn asks hopefully.
"See you at school," Millie says, and starts walking back home.
She texts Romeo.
Millie: sorry Romeo, I'm really tired and I'm walking across the street to my house. Thanks for the ride.
Romeo: no problem, ttyl
Millie uses one of her several keys to open her back gate, and she excitedly climbs the spiral staircase that leads to her balcony.
She unlocks her glass balcony door, and walks into her room, shutting the curtains behind her. She plops onto her bed and decides to text Sadie.
Millie: sorry I left the party early, you ok?
Sadie: yeah I'm fine, it's YOU I'm worried about? What happened?
Millie: I'll tell u at school.
Sadie: what!?!?! MILLS YOU CANT DO THAT TO ME AHSJAHEJS
Millie: night sads 😘
