Romeo sits behind his desk at home, in deep thought. He stares at his light grey walls.
"How do I get Millie to like me?" He whispers to himself. He flips his blonde hair out of his face, and opens the drawer to his desk.
He pulls out his note book, and begins to scribble ideas. After about half of an hour, he circles the best ones.
"Get Finn to say something he doesn't mean.... record his voice and edit it to say something.... ask Millie if she knows what Finn's plan is... feed her false information?"
Romeo slams his hands to his forehead, suffocated by inner turmoil.
Romeo bites his bottom lip. Finn is one of my friends, but I like Millie so much, and she doesn't know the other side of him, what if he hurts her? ZHe's just as much of a heartbreaker as he was last year.... right?
Meanwhile, Millie stares at the ceiling in her own bedroom, a few streets down.
Does he like me, or love me? Does he want to kiss me, or be with me?
Oh come on Millie, you're talking nonsense. Finn likes you a lot, right? I mean he drew me in art class, and he likes to play video games with me, we love each others' singing...
"That's enough thinking for tonight," Millie whispers, as she turns off her lamp, slipping under the white covers of her bed, and drifting off to sleep.
Millie's phone buzzes, playing a small, acoustic guitar tune, of which Millie recorded in secret while Finn was playing. Millie smiles as she hears his faint singing, raspy and low, but melodic all the same.
Wow, usually nothing can make me smile in the morning. Millie giggles and thinks to herself, her cheeks a light pink.
Millie lazily rolls out of bed, heads into the bathroom, and proceeds to take a shower. Millie sets her playlist on shuffle, and smiles when a certain song comes on, I Want You Back by Jackson 5. Millie smiles as she recalls singing with her friends.
Millie sings along in the shower, her voice bouncing off the bathroom walls. she steps out and dries herself off, and combs through her almost shoulder length, brown hair.
Millie wraps her hair in a small towel, and heads over to her closet. She picks out a pair of black ripped jeans, a red crop top, and Finn's red beanie. She applies mascara and red lip stick, and ties on her white converse.
Let's see how Finn reacts to me wearing his hat. Millie thinks giddily as she grabs her backpack and heads downstairs into the kitchen. Millie scrolls through her Instagram while mindlessly putting two frozen eggos in the toaster, and shoving an apple into her backpack.
Millie's scrolling comes to a stop when she comes across Finn's Instagram, he posted a new picture... of a girl... wearing his blue hat on top of her golden hair.
A pang of jealousy hits Millie like a bullet. She begins to feel angry and sad at the same time. She's about to text Finn, but she stops herself. Millie runs her hands through her hair and sighs. I'm over thinking this too much. She's just a friend, or maybe a cousin, or sister, or maybe-
Millie's trail of thought gets cut off by the ding of a text message sent to her phone. It's from Romeo.
Romeo: hey I need to talk to you, meet me in the tech wing basement by Mr. Kerry's room at lunch?
Millie is a tiny confused by this, but doesn't think much about it.
Millie: Sure
Millie shuts off her phone, grabs her eggos, puts on her backpack, and heads to school.
First and second period were boring, as per usual. But third period, Millie has Language Arts with Finn. Millie smiles and speeds to class, excited to see him. As Millie walks into the class, her smile fades. He's talking to someone, a girl, the girl.
The girl bites her lip and adjusts Finn's blue hat on top of her head. Millie feels like she's about to vomit. Finn says something to her, smiling, and then gives her a hug.
Millie watches, mouth open and eyes wide. She nearly drops her backpack on the floor when the beautiful blonde girl gives Finn a quick, hesitant kiss, right in his lips.
Millie looks at her shoes, her eyes quickly blurring with hot tears.
The bell rings for class, and Finn turns around, his eyes widen when he realizes that Millie just saw everything. His face is plastered with guilt.
"Millie-"
"I-I can't believe you!" Millie shouts, and bolts out of class. Mrs. Ryder doesn't say a thing to stop her, frankly, Winona knows this situation all too well.
Finn panics, he loves Millie. He loves her. "Why did you do that Iris?" He asks angrily, barley above a whisper, running out of the classroom after Millie.
The whole class sits in a moment of silence. Gaten and Noah whisper to each other in the back, knowing that Iris was Finn's middle school girlfriend, who moved away, but they split up near the end of eight grade. Iris went to a different high school for freshman and sophomore year. It's been two years, they broke up, and she thinks it's okay to just kiss Finn?
Finn runs to the place he knows Millie would be, her singing place in the Tech wing, where he often heard her sing before meeting Millie face to face.
Finn ran across the hallway, down the stairs, and into the tech wing...
