Finn searched for Millie after school, eager to finally explain to her what happened.
I can't loose her. Millie is so amazing, she's different from other girls, how could I ever date anyone after her? She's the best girlfriend I've ever had, heck, she's one of my best friends.
Finn's train of thought got cut of by the sound of Iris snapping her fingers in front of his face. He flinched, scrunching his face, making Iris giggle. She stopped giggling, remembering what she wanted to tell Finn.
"Finn! Look!" She points to the student parking lot. He sees Millie being pulled away by Romeo. She's looking back at Finn, contemplating something, but he doesn't know what. Her face carrying a look of confusion and sadness.
"Millie!" Finn shouts, but Romeo whispers something to Millie, and she gets in the passenger seat of Romeos car, eyes watering.
"Millie!" Finn shouts again, right before the red car door shuts.
God fucking dammit, Romeo!
They drive off, Romeo gives Finn a sly smirk, and they're gone, driving to who knows where? Romeo's house, Millie's house, the library, the park, the diner?
Finn runs his hands through this dark curly hair, "Fuck!"
He startled some nearby students, but nobody says anything. They continue walking, a teenager swearing isn't very out of the ordinary.
As Romeo drives Millie home, she checks Instagram again, going back to the same post she saw that morning. She reads the caption.
Finn Wolfhard: Glad to have my old friend @irisapatow back living in town!
Maybe I was overreacting, overthinking?
Romeo glances down at Millie's screen, and his eyes fall back on the road, "Old friend?" He chuckles.
"That's an understatement," he says.
Millie scrunches her eyebrows together. "I'm so confused. I don't know what to believe."
"Millie, he's not good for you, trust me. This is how it went down for all his other girlfriends last year, there's the friend stage, which usually doesn't last long, but it was longer for you, you're harder to get. Reference to my other book, aye. Then the cute relationship stage, which you two were just in. And now, the stage where he gets second thoughts about his feelings, starts to like a new girl, and the cycle repeats."
Millie's heart broke more and more with every word that left Romeo's mouth.
But Romeo wasn't lying when he said that, that was how most of Finn's relationships last year went. Romeo looked over when he heard Millie sniffle.
"I'm sorry Millie, but I felt like you should know the truth."
"It's okay, T-thanks for looking out for me, Romeo," Millie wipes the tears off her cheeks.
I really thought Finn and I had something special, he even told me I wasn't like most girls he's met, but maybe he says that to all girls he likes, not just me...
The car comes to stop, "We're here, Millie."
Millie snaps out of her thoughts, and see's her familiar navy blue door, where Finn had kissed her, just a few days ago.
"Thanks for the ride Romeo, do you want to come in? I kind of need help on the math packet."
Romeo smiles, "Sure."
They walk up to Millie's navy blue door and she unlocks it with her key. She walks inside, the scent of freshly baked bread fills her nose.
"Mum?" Millie asks surprised, her mom usually works until 5 or 6. Romeo suppressed an admiring giggle at Millie's accent.
Millie's mother peaks we head around the corner, "Hi Millie! I got off work early, so I decided to bake some bread, for fun!"
Millie's mother has a smile as bright as sunshine, she loves to bake, "That's great mum!"
Millie slips off her shoes on the matt next to the front door, Romeo does the same.
"So, is this the Finn guy you were talking about?"
Millie's smile falters, "No, this is my friend Romeo, he is here to help me with the math packet."
"How lovely. Nice to meet you Romeo!"
"And you too miss!"
"Oh what a gentleman!"
"Okay, I better get back to baking, I'll call you down when dinner is ready. Would you like to stay for dinner Romeo?" She says, tightening her pony tail of long brown hair.
"Sure. Thank you."
"Alright, we'll be in my room," Millie says, her mother eyes widen.
"With the door open! Jeez mum he's my friend."
Mrs. Brown laughs, successfully have embarrassed her teenage daughter. Romeo and Millie head up stairs to her room.
oof...
