it was almost midnight in new york. usually on friday nights, maya hart would be out with her friends, but tonight was different. tonight there was a huge storm, a storm so big that maya's power had gone out in her shitty apartment. maya was a badass. she wasn't scared of anything, except thunderstorms. thunderstorms were her absolute weakness. she hated them with a passion, especially now since it was pitch black in her apartment. here she is sitting on her bed with her huge comforter wrapped around her and the only light is coming from her laptop. maya had tried texting her mom or shawn to see when they were gonna get home but they can't drive in this weather.

as maya continues to watch netflix and clutch onto her childhood teddy bear like her life depends on it, she hears a knock at the door. more like a pound actually. if her parents couldn't come home, who else would be at her house this fucking late?! she was terrified as she sat there on her bed rocking back and forth. she tried to sing her favorite songs lowly to calm her down but the knocking only got louder. she finally decided to get up and go over to the door. she grabbed the baseball bat that lucas had left at her house once and slowly walked over to the door. she was too short to see the peep hole, so she opened the door cautiously. maya came face to face with a huge tall figure that was soaking wet due to the rain.

"huckleberry! what the hell is wrong with you? it's almost midnight!" she shouts pulling him into the house but slapping his shoulder at the same time.

"you know why i'm here." he says shaking his wet hair like a dog.

"i didn't know you were a freaking dog!" she shouts in disgust wiping the water off her face. "but seriously, why are you here ranger rick?"

"maya. do we have to continue with the nicknames even when i came here in the rain to comfort you?" he whines.

"you know you love them, sundance." she says her lips curling into a playful grin. "and what do you mean comfort me? i don't need comforting!"

"you hate storms."

"so?"

"you also hate being alone."

"i do not!" she argues.

"yes you do, maya!" he says.

"do not!"

"do too!"

"do not!"

"penelope, admit it, you hate thunderstorms." he says putting his hands on his hips.

"fine." she pouts finally putting the baseball bat down. "i hate storms."

"i know you do. so come here, i'll hold you until you fall asleep." he says sitting down on her couch.

"get your wet ass off my couch! come on." she says gesturing him to follow her to her room/bathroom. they both go to her room and she hands him a towel to dry off. lucas takes his wet sweatshirt off which leaves him shirtless. maya stares at him with wide eyes and her cheeks turn bright red. she clears her throat as she looks around her room to not look at his amazingly chiseled body. holy shit, he's hot. lucas notices the blush on her cheeks as his lips curve into a smirk.

"need a napkin for that drool, shortstack?" he asks. maya scoffs and hands him one of the shirts she stole from him. he laughs and slides the shirt over his head before plopping down on maya's bed.

"who said you could lay here?" she asks teasingly.

"i did because you're obviously terrified of the storm." he chuckles and then pats the spot next to him. "come on penelope."

"ugh i hate you." she says rolling her eyes teasingly. she plops down on the bed next to him and wraps the blanket around them. lucas puts his arm around her and she stares at him like he's crazy. "what're you doing, huckleberry?"

"i don't know what you're talking about." he says grinning continuing to watch what plays on the screen. she laughs and focuses her attention back on the screen. lucas has always loved maya's laugh. in fact, he loves everything about her. her hair, her freckles, her eyes that he could actually get lost in, her angelic voice that comes out of her beautiful plump lips that he wishes he could kiss every single day. she really is his blonde beauty and he wouldn't have it any other way. maya feels her head slowly move down to lucas's shoulder and she rests it there hoping he doesn't move. she can feel him kiss the side of her head softly making her smile and blush profusely. maya feels her eyes become heavy and start to close.

"i love you maya." lucas says thinking she was asleep.

"i love you too, lucas. thank you, huckleberry." maya says softly with her eyes still closed.

"anything for you, blonde beauty." he smiles.

so here she is wrapped up in her big blanket watching netflix but now her huckleberry is by her side. maybe thunderstorms aren't so bad after all.
