lucaya day two!

trimming the tree

as christmas time was approaching, it was time for maya's favorite winter festivity. it was time to trim the tree. maya usually did it alone considering her mother was always working, but maya enjoyed being alone. she liked listening to the christmas music and she liked being able to put the ornaments on wherever she wanted to.

maya skipped out of her room towards the kitchen to put the kettle on the stove. she grabbed her phone and started playing her favorite christmas playlist as she went over to the tree. she grabbed all the boxes with the ornaments in them and she started to hang them on the tree. she put the heavy ones towards the bottom and the lighter ones at the top. well the highest that maya could reach. she had many ornaments with pictures of her and riley and that made her smile. she also hung up a few of her and farkle and a few of her and lucas. of course there were some pictures of her and shawn and her mom and all three of them together.

after a few hours, maya took a break to eat some christmas cookies and drink some hot cocoa. she had basically finished the tree. it had tons of ornaments on it and garland. it looked beautiful in maya's opinion. the only thing left to do was to put the star on the top of the tree. now this was where maya reached her problem. maya was only five foot and she couldn't reach the top of the tree. since she was all alone, she had no way to reach it. now you're probably thinking, maya stand on top of a chair, but maya had a bad experience with that last year. last year she had this exact same problem too, so she got a chair and she stood on top of it and then fell off of it. maya laid on the ground for fifteen minutes groaning in pain and then finally got up. so now, she had no choice but to call her tallest friend, lucas huckleberry friar.

maya grabbed her phone and went to his contact. it rang for a little bit and then she heard a texan accent on the other line.

"hey penelope." he says in a friendly tone.

"hi ranger rick. i need a favor from you." she says.

"what's up?" he asks.

"can you come over?" she asks.

"like to your house?" he asks confused.

"no to the cemetery. yes to my house dummy!" maya says sarcastically.

"yeah i can come over. but like why?" he asks as maya hears shuffling on the other side of the phone.

"i just i need you to help me with something. please." maya says dragging out the s.

"anything for you pancakes. i'll be there soon." he said.

"thank you huckleberry! bye!" she says before hanging up her phone.

after about ten minutes, lucas knocked on maya's door. maya skipped over to it and opened it.

"hey heehaw!" maya smiles.

"what's up shortstack?" lucas asks walking into maya's house.

"i need you to help me with something." she says.

"with what? it's not something illegal right?" he asks making maya slap his shoulder.

"no! i just need your help putting the star on the top of my tree." she says.

"and you couldn't call anyone else?" he asks.

"well farkle and zay can't lift me up, riley can't, my moms at work, and shawn is out of town. so no i couldn't call anyone else." maya says putting her hands on her hips.

"okay so you just want me to put this star on that tree?" he asks.

"hell no. it's my tree, i put my star on my tree. you are here to lift me up huckleberry." she smiles.
