my girls

lucas and maya were laying down on the couch cuddled into each other sound asleep until they heard their front door open. in walked their 15 year old daughter, camille. it was 2 in the morning and way passed her curfew.

"nice of you to come home, cami." maya says waking up slowly trying to keep lucas asleep. maya soon realized that her daughter was crying and had makeup running down her cheeks. "babygirl, what happened?" maya asks in a worried tone quickly getting up to hug her daughter.

"i'm sorry mom. i didn't mean for that to happen, it just did." camille cries into her mom's shoulder.

"okay shhh honey, lets go talk in bed." she says bringing her daughter to her room to not wake her husband. camille gets changed into one of her dad's shirts and lays down on maya's lap. maya strokes her hair and tries to calm her crying daughter down. "tell me what happened, baby."

"i was at the party and i had a little too much to drink." she sobs. maya can feel her anger start to rise but she tries to keep calm realizing that she was once a teenager too.

"okay so what happened?" maya asks quietly.

"this guy that i've been talking to started to dance with me. after a while, i got really tired and i wanted to sit down and wait for kelsey to leave. but he followed me to the couch and he started trying to touch me in inappropriate places. i told him to stop but he wouldn't listen to me. he forced me into a room and tried to make out with me. finally i did what you told me to do. i kicked him in his area and ran. by this time, everyone had basically left so i just walked home. i'm sorry mom. i didn't mean for it to happen. please don't tell dad." camille cries snuggling into her mom's petite figure.

"don't tell dad what?" lucas asks walking into the room rubbing his eyes. "why are you crying, monkey?"

"i don't wanna talk about it." she cries. lucas nods and walks over to their bed and lays next to maya. he wraps his arm around maya and camille.

"my girls minus one." he says lowly kissing maya's head and rubbing camille's back.

"babygirl, you can tell him what happened. he won't be mad at you." maya says comforting her daughter.

camille tells her dad the story, and his blood boils in fury.

"what's his name? i want his address and his parents' names, i will kick his ass." lucas growls. maya chuckles softly and puts her hand on her husband's jaw to calm him down.

"huckleberry, texas lucas cannot come out right now. let's just be there for our baby." maya says snuggling into his shoulder.

"you're right, you're right. come here sweetie." lucas says pulling his daughter into him. she cries in his shoulder and both of her parents hearts break. there's a soft knock at the door and maya looks up to see her seven year old daughter olivia.

"what're you doing up ollie?" maya asks.

"i heard cami crying and i got worried, so i checked her room and she wasn't there. then i came here and heard her." olivia says looking at her sister worried.

"come here, ollie." cami sniffles holding her arms out. olivia walks over to the bed and snuggles into all of her family members.

"now all my girls are here. you girls wanna sleep here tonight?" lucas asks. olivia and camille nod their heads softly.

"cami what happened?" olivia asks.

"nothing ollie, i'll tell you in the morning. thank you for worrying though, you're the best sister in the world." camille says kissing olivia's forehead and hugging her. maya tears up a little bit and sniffles.

"pancakes, what's wrong?" lucas asks looking at his wife.

"nothing. cami can i talk to you in the living room real quick?" maya asks. cami gets up and her and maya walk into the living room with their arms wrapped around one another.

"what's up momma?" cami asks starting to feel happier again.

"when i was a junior in high school, my ex boyfriend tried to rape me basically. i've been through a lot in my life, but that was definitely one of the worst things i've ever had to experience." maya says starting to cry.

"aw mom don't cry. we don't need to talk about this." she says comforting her mom.

"no, no it's okay. i was at a party and i drank way too much. i was a pretty wild party girl in high school, and that's why i'm not gonna ground you. anyway, my boyfriend and i were dancing and he took me away to a room. i went along with it because that's what i felt that i wanted at the time. as he kept kissing me, i realized that i did not want this at all. i told him to stop and get off of me but it didn't work. thankfully, your wonderful father heard me screaming and he came in right before things got out of hand. he saw that i was in my underwear and saying no and he took my ex boyfriend by the neck and threw him against the wall. he picked me up and took me home. i couldn't sleep without lucas for months. he had to hold me while i cried, we slept with the lights on, and i wasn't even comfortable going to school. it was really hard for me, so i know what you're going through, babygirl. everything is gonna be okay, i promise. you'll find a boy like your dad and he'll be there for you. now us friar women, we got a lot of baggage and we need guys that can carry all of it. thank goodness your dad is as strong as a horse." maya giggles. "life will be harder now, but you'll be stronger. i love you so much camille riley friar. you're my first born and you and ollie have my unconditional love, no matter what you do or what happens, i will love you. do you understand that?" maya asks touching her daughter's face and stroking her cheeks.

"i understand mom. thank you. i love you." cami smiles wiping her tears and hugging her mom. maya hugs her daughter back and strokes her daughter's long blonde hair that's identical to hers. olivia got lucky with lucas's brown hair and maya's curls. olivia got her mom's eyes and camille got her dad's. they both have mays's fair complexion but they got lucky in the height department. camille is already five inches taller than her mom and olivia is only a few inches shorter than her.

"you ready to go to bed baby?" she asks and cami nods. they both walk back to the room and see ollie snuggled into her dad's chest and both of them sound asleep with the same looks on their faces. maya and camille laugh the same laugh and lay down. camille puts her head on her mom's chest and falls fast asleep besides her wonderful family.

once lucas sees all of them sleeping he opens one eye.

"my girls." he whispers before falling asleep again.
