Reaching Dronin

Fireball managed to get closer to the cage undetected. He noticed there were now only two wizards guarding the cage. Not knowing what the firesticks could do, Fireball was unsure how to engage the wizards or whether he should just unleash a fiery blast at them and be done with it.

The wizards were not watching Dronin. He was secure, locked up in a cage and quite obviously injured. They were either not concerned or not interested. This made it easier for Fireball, allowing him to sneak up close to Dronin and try to talk to him. He approached the cage, hiding behind the small trees and shrubs.

"Psst!" Fireball got Dronin's attention. Dronin limped over to Fireball, but had to lay down, clearly exhausted. Fireball was sure he was trying to smile, but his face was bloody and quite swollen on one side, leaving the little dragon only guessing what had happened.

"We don't have a lot of time, Dronin." Fireball said quickly. "This area is under a protective dome. There is an opening we have to get back through, to get to the other side of the island. It cannot stay open long. Hopefully the others will be here soon and we can incapacitate the two wizard guards and get you out. We will then have to hurry back to the opening. Other wizards will likely chase us, but we will have to deal with that when it happens. Right now my number one priority is getting you out and back home."

Glancing over at the two wizards, Fireball saw that one of them was leaving. He figured this was the best time to free Dronin, but his friends were not there to back him up yet.

Fireball picked his way through the shrubs to the front of the cage where the lone wizard was standing. It had started to rain, a strong wind driving the rain sideways. The pelting of rain on his face encouraged the lone wizard to seek shelter under a stand of short coconut palm trees. This new location gave Fireball an idea.

Fireball flew quickly to the coconuts hanging from the stand of trees. He was quick enough that he was sure the wizard did not detect him. Hiding amongst the large branches, he pried several coconuts loose. Still hidden, but directly over the wizard, Fireball dropped the first coconut. It missed the wizard by inches, but startled him enough that he looked straight up. 'Whomp!' The second coconut hit its mark. The wizard was hit squarely in the forehead and crumpled to the ground like an accordion. He did not stir at all.
