Amos explained the plan to Fireball and his dragon friends. They needed one fast and brave dragon. Then they needed to get all the other dragons to stay in their caves. The wall would keep the wizards from tracking the dragons, but if they flew over top there was a chance they could be spotted. The safest spot for the dragons, he explained, was in their caves.
Roderick, a quiet, younger dragon came forward and offered to fly Amos around the island, so the enemy could see him. Amos, Roderick and Fireball left Fausto in the others care, and headed to the beach.
Once at the beach, Amos turned the wand on himself and immediately began to shrink. Fireball watched as his wizard friend turned into the prince. As long as Marcello did not get too close the disguise would be enough to draw Marcello out, Amos explained to them. If it worked, the plan was to lure him away from the island and to the prince's castle. Their plan would save a lot of dragons and the prince's son.
'Zaap!' A spell from Amos's wand hit the invisible shield. It completely lit up into a dark blue colour. A few seconds later there was a thunderous bang. The light from the shield accumulated to one spot in a large, blazing ball of fire. The fireball shot forth, and Fireball watched as it soared toward the mountain where the evil wizards were working and staying. The fire crashed into the mountain and created a catastrophic explosion that shook the ground under the trio at the beach more than a mile from the target. Fireball gazed at the plumes of dust and smoke, and as they dissipated, he saw nothing. Fireball blinked several times. The mountain was gone.
Amos, quite pleased the spell had worked so well, was certain that the explosion had injured, and even killed, dozens of evil wizards. Amos knew there was enough destruction and carnage to draw Marcello out. They just had to wait for Marcello and his followers to locate the false prince and chase the small party back to the prince's island castle.
Roderick, with Amos on his back, took to the sky, as they saw the evil wizards racing toward them. Roderick flew fast as Amos cast a volley of spells at the dragons carrying the enemy.
One of the new spells piqued Amos's interest enough that he watched it unfold. The spell cut through the middle of the wizard pack, not hitting any of them. As the spell passed the wizards, it sucked them into its wake. Dozens of dragons and wizards tumbled backward through the open sky, and most of them fell to the ground.
Marcello was the only wizard who evaded the spell and he kept up his pursuit, casting his own spells. Amos and Fireball managed to block them all.
Amos instructed Roderick to allow Marcello to get closer, long enough for him to see that he was the prince. Spells were cast back and forth as they flew toward the Prince's island. At one point, when Marcello got too close, Fireball sent a blazing fire at the evil wizard, forcing him to fall back.
As they reached Alexander's island, Fireball had managed to get in behind Marcello and sent his most devastating blast at the wizard. The dragon carrying the evil wizard disintegrated, but Marcello was no where to be seen. Amos and Roderick landed on the balcony and the prince, who had also returned, let them in as Amos returned to normal. Fireball zipped in behind them and the prince closed the French doors.
