Dardon, who was standing directly behind Fireball, spoke up.

"We don't want wizard's here and we definitely don't want any wizard's wand here. That could only lead to trouble. We need to destroy that wand or get it far away from here!"

Fireball told everyone he would get his friend Amos to remove the wand if he could not, but they would have to let Amos inside first. Reluctantly, Dardon agreed. Then Fireball had an idea. The wand was cut from a tree. It was made of wood and wood burns. Racing to the wand, Fireball blew fire at it, but the wand remained in place, unharmed. His mother glanced over at him. Fireball smiled and then inhaled deeply. Blowing out an intense flame for almost 30 seconds, Fireball immediately sat down to rest a moment. A grassy meadow just beyond the wand caught on fire and dozens of bushes burned almost immediately turning to ashes. Even a metal statue, brought from their last home, melted and slumped over. The wand remained intact.

Puzzled, Fireball decided he would leave the wand removal to Amos.

As the little dragon thought about his friend Amos and the evil wizards, he started to understand how his father had always figured the dragons and wizards would one day have to work together to stop an evil force. He had always told Fireball that he would work with wizards one day to make the whole world a safer place and Fireball never believed that, until now.

'Bing!' Ow, thought Fireball. What just hit me, he wondered. Turning around, Fireball looked eye to eye at a very perturbed Kaida. Before he could say anything, she spoke.

"I see you made it home but didn't come by to say hello."

Fireball knew she was mad, even though he had just arrived home. He wasn't sure what to say, so he just reacted. Fireball grabbed Kaida and hugged her tight. A stunned Kaida just looked at him as he told her he loved her. Then Fireball hugged her again, but this time Kaida hugged him back.

"It's about time you figured that out," Kaida said. "Do you know how worried I have been since you left?"

Fireball apologized, but explained he had to leave once more, then he would come back and stay with her forever. He had to get Amos and have him come back and remove the wand. Fireball also made the decision that he should give the ruby stone to Amos. That way he would remove himself and the dragon community of everything to do with wizards. He had done his part to work with the wizards to rid the world of a very evil presence, and now he just wanted to go back to his quiet life as a dragon, far away from wizards.

Fireball liked Amos, but life was much more simple he thought, when he was surrounded by dragons with no wizards. He even thought of moving into a vacant cave when he came back. There were two caves near his mother and he was sure one of them would be perfect for he and Kaida. Fireball was sure his mother would miss him, but he would be living very close.
