I turn unable to sleep on the uncomfortable bed they had provided for me. Moonlight reflected onto the marble floor illuminating the room.
Throwing off the covers I sit on the bed. I put on my boots and quietly open the door. The hallways were lit well enough for me to see if anyone was walking by. I turn my head to both sides, after confirming that no one was around I crept out of my room and closed the door behind me.
I begin walking towards the room which holds the reactor. I swiftly knock on the door and wait for a response. The door opens and a man with confused expression opens it. I smile with him, "I apologize if I disturbed you, I was hoping someone could tell me how the machine works?" He smiles back and opens the door. The same faces from before greet me with a warm smile. "Willow, how may we help you?" A woman speaks.
"Could you explain to me how the reactor works?" They all look at each other. "Uh, I suppose we could. Although you must excuse us as we aren't allowed to reveal everything." I nod and walk beside her.
Lights of many colours blink rapidly, the large machine vibrates as the giant batteries surrounding it power it. She walks me through the process of powering it up and enabling the magic extractor. "The power is extracted from one and put into another, making them stronger. You see from this it won't be as painful because when you use magic to do take power, you need to take one's soul. It's excruciatingly painful. Many of us had that happened to us over the course of our lives for the greater good of course. That's why we helped king Adam construct this master piece." She looked to the machine, her eyes glowing with determination and joy.
"You mentioned that magic is extracted from one person to another, will this take place tomorrow?" She shrugs and turns towards the door. "We haven't been informed yet, we will know when you know. I'm sorry to cut this short but you need to rest dear, you wouldn't want to go through this process feeling drowsy." She opens the door and takes me to my room. "Till tomorrow princess." I close the door after saying goodbye.
"Why do they keep calling me princess, it doesn't suit me. I hope they'll stop soon." At last I get back into bed and close my eyes, this time my thoughts rest with me.
