Simone takes a few pins and a brush and places it on her vanity. "Please don't do something extremely elegant and outgoing. If I stand out people will want to converse with me and I do not want that.." She laughs and starts combing my hair. "It's nothing too serious. Just a half up that is a flower." After about half an hour we were done.
We enter the large room finely decorated with gems, jewels and lights. Many men in tuxedos and suits strike up conversations with the ladies. Laughter and champagne filled the air. Simone and I meet up with a few friends and began chatting.
A few moments later a man in a red and white suit enters through the doors at the top of the staircase. "Lords and Ladies of the kingdom of Laridosa. May I present, his majesty The King Zaidrus the Great, and his son Prince Zarioss!" The crowd cheers as both enter the room dressed in their royal outfits. As they reach the end of the balcony everyone bows their head showing their respect to the king.
"My people. I am thrilled that you all were able to attend the grand ball held in the honour of my son's coronation that will take place the following week. Please enjoy yourselves and let the festivities begin." The king claps his hands and music begins playing.
Having technology didn't change most of the old traditions of our kingdom. It is quite the exciting thing to arrive at a ball in such a way so I am glad that we decided to stick with them.
The king gestures for the prince to enter the dance floor. With a sorrowful glance at him he gracefully walks down the stairs. Many lords and ladies greet him and try to converse with him but with a quick hello he retreats from the situation. He walks around the corners of the room scanning it. I take a glass of champagne and take a huge gulp.
"Nervous?" Simone teases me. "There are so many people here. It's outright terrifying!" I say as I finish the rest of the drink in another gulp. The prince spots us and walks over. "There is a lot of people here, I did not expect to have to see this many people today" he says nervously. "How do you think you will fare at the coronation then?" I ask him jokingly, taking another glass.
After finishing our drinks we holds out his hand to me. "Would you take pleasure in having that dance you promised me?" He suddenly asks. A nervous pressure creeps up on me at the thought of being in the middle of so many people. "Oh do not worry. People won't stare. Just keep your focus on me." He smiles.
I take his hand. We both walk to the middle and wait till the music begins. "I feel like people are staring. This is terrifying! oh dear." Zarioss glances over at his father and back at me. "Oh don't worry you will get used to it."
"I don't know what you mean by that but I believe no matter what I do, this would be the most terrifying thing.." My nervousness is getting the best of me. I'm making myself look like a fool in front of the prince. After starting a normal conversation with him I quickly feel more comfortable while dancing. It feels like I'm talking to Zarioss and not the prince of Laridosa. The music ends and I notice that many more couples had joined us in the dance.
Zarioss glares at his father in the distance once more. It is quite surprising behavior. We both bow to each other. As I turn my gaze upwards I notice specs of pink and blue fall from the hands of the prince. He's using his magic to form something. By the time I had fully stood up he bad finished. A blue rose was being held out to me by the prince. "I almost forgot to tell you. You look exquisite tonight. I wish to see you like this at many more balls Analissa."
My face has gone fully red now. I could hear a faint cheering noise coming from the crowd as I take it and thank him. I walk over to Simone stiff as a stone and sit down beside her. "I can't believe what I saw with my own eyes." She stares at me mouth agape. "Meet me in my room tonight"
