WEAKNESS

CHAPTER 13- Meeting

Our food arrives after the longest awkward silence. We eat up our food in that awkward silence. When we finish we realise we have only five minute till our appointment, Mr Bloom quickly pays the bill also tipping the waitress and I notice her discretely slipping him her number (insert eye roll) . We rush out to the Doctors office across the street still in silence.

We enter a modern theme furnished reception area with and elderly lady at the front desk. This place looks expensive, I don't know why didn't we go to the hospital for free. "Mr Bloom, we have a ten 0'clock appointment.", he says. I find it rude that he did not greet so I curtly say, "Hello ma'am". She smiles and greets me then tells us to follow her.

We enter the doctors room and are greeted by this young doctor,even in that white coat you can tell he works out. He has a clean cut with light by brown eyes which compliment his chocolate skin. "Bradley! How are you doing?", he says taking his hand and engulfing him in a "bro hug". I guess they are friend as I watch them do small talk. For a while I start to think they forgot I'm in the room till "Dr Zulu" as per name tag turns to me and says, "Sorry for being so rude, hi I'm Jerry". I smile shyly, "Luthando".

I learn that the doctor had already gotten my files from the hospital so I did not have relay the events to him. He performs a check up and tells us that I have healed very well. I ask if I can go back to work and he says I can go back only if I promise to take it easy. I am thrilled with the news and look over to Mr Bloom and notice he has an expression I can't read, I thought he would be happy to have me out of his hair.

After the check up we exit the building in our normal silence,we climb into the car and drive in silence. Mr Blooms pulls out his phone and makes a call, "Hi Sindy, please call my 12'o clock and tell them I will be an hour late". I feel terrible that he is running late for his meeting because of me.

I quickly open the door to get off before the car can completely come to a halt, I don't want to make him anymore late the he is.

"Thank you Mr Bloom"
"Luthando wait!"
"Yes?"
"Would you like to join me for my meeting at I.T Solutions"
"Yes!! Sir I would love to!"
"Change quickly then, I will wait for you."

I was over joyed, I ran towards my room. This was one of the best companies second to Mr Blooms company and plus I was happy that I did not have to be indoors today. I stripped and slipped onto a tight knee length pencil dress, did a clean up do hairstyle , put on some lipstick and a little bit of make up and lastly I slipped on some heels. I looked and myself in the mirror and thought I looked good enough like those corporate ladies. I put a notepad and my cellphone in the laptop bag and brought it along in case I needed it to take notes. I was on my way to the car in less then thirty minutes.

When I got into the car I notice Mr Bloom stare at me, I was slightly uncomfortable but a part of me was smug (bet he did not know I could clean up like this).

We arrived in the company and the receptionist led us to the boardroom. She was dressed in all white to compliment the all white interior, I doubt I would fit in here I thought to myself.
Mr Bloom shook hands with a greying handsome man which he addressed as Mr Johnson (I bet he is the owner of the company) along with other members of the board. Mr Bloom introduced me as his assistant who will be taking notes. We sat down and I took out my notepad and pen ready to get to work.

"Shall we start?", Mr Bloom started pulling out files from his case.
"Certainly, but you have to forgive my creative director is running late. ", Mr Johnson said.
"No problem, guess today we are all running late", he said with a chuckle.

They began discussing business and I began taking down notes and about nearly an hour i heard the doors open.

"My apologies for being late!", came an all too familiar voice. I felt like I just had the wind knocked out of me, this cannot be happening...
