"You're going on a date with..." he trailed and I finished his words.

"with Jake." he narrowed his eyes at me and nodded, then he started the engine and we left.

He parked his car and before I made my way he clutched my arms with his hand.

"Please, don't go with him." he pleaded.

"I don't know. I already said yes just like I said yes to you when you invited me on this dinner. I don't want to be rude to Jake. That will be unfair to him." his eyes said it all. He looked sad, confused, and hurt.

"What? It's unfair for him? Have you thought about how it's unfair for me too? You just said 'yes' to him on a date. On a goddamn date, Amy. And you know that he lied to you." his voice was clearly laced with anger.

"But you lied to me too!" he looked at me, and I felt his eyes digging holes on mine.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I just can't believe that you agreed with him that fast. And what about me, you never gave me a chance... and I used to be your friend. I just...whatever." he ran his hands in his blonde hair, leaving it in a messy state.

"Okay, I'm sorry too. And...I promise...I will think about it." I glanced at him, and I saw a smile on his face, so I smiled back as I unfastened the seatbealt.

"I forgot to say how beautiful you looked tonight." he murmured as he stare at me. "But you should already know that you always and will always...look beautiful to me." The butterflies rambled and his words giving me a blush. I just hope he doesn't see it.

Fortunately, he won't because there's only the moonlight illuminating us. "You look handsome too." And I bade him goodbye, then I got out his car. I looked back at him and we waved at each other before I watched his car left the street.

"So, what should I wear?" I asked Kate on the phone, since Millie and Courtney rejected me, because of my going on a date with Jake.

"Just wear comfy clothes, wait...you didn't ask him where you're going?" She asked. Yeah, I forgot about that.

"No...should I?"

"He could've at least given you a clue..."

"I don't know.."

"Just wear jeans and a blouse." she sugeested, that's what's on my mind anyway.

"Okay, cool." then we hung up.

It's already fifteen minutes after six. I was sitting on the sidewalk fiddling my phone, texting Kate.

And Jake was late. As in late. I'm just praying he wouldn't come, so I can continue my homework. But a silver car caught my eye. It parked in front of me, at the other side of the road. Please, let it be someone else...

I repeat over and over in my head.

But all hopes were gone when tje door opened, Jake went out, wearing a white shirt over a faded-ripped jeans. He smiled at me, his eyes twinkling like when you watch the refection of the night sky on the ocean water. He walked to me and I stood up.

"Hi, you look amazing." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yeah, with my sweaters and jeans...really...?" My words came out as boring.

"You look fine really. So, let's go! I'm excited." he took my hand. It was warm and led to me to the passenger's side.

"Thanks." I muttered, then he closed the door. "Promise me you'll never show up late next time." I crossed my arms over my chest. He put his finhers on his head, gesturing a salute. Then, his eyes twinkled while a smile played on his lips.

"Wait, does that mean there's going to be a second date?" he asked.

"Uh-hm..maybe?" I answered, which made him grin.

"Are you planning on killing me here?" I asked him, as we trekked on a very dark, strange, forest in the middle of the night. We walked for fifteen minutes and ir wasn't that bad, because I was wearing a converse.

"Of course not! I'm planning on killing you there!" He pointed and I looked where it was.

"Oh, wow..." I murmured.

The sight was worth walking for fifteen minutes. There was a lea  surrounded by tall trees. And in the center of it was a large quilt sitting on the grass, beside it was a tent. A bonfire on the far center, giving the whole scene light. Fireflies were everywhere in different colors.

"Are you amazed?" And we walked hand in hand near it.

"Yes. It's wonderful!" I chuckled. This was the first time I've been in a place like this. It's so deserted and it's so...late night-ish...whatever that means.

"Come on." Jake sat on the quilt, he's patting on the seat beside him.

"Okay." And I followed him. There was a picnic basket. He opened it and got two wine glasses, a bottle of wine.

"And for our dinner." he took a paper bag, and I opened it.

"Wow. Chinese?" I aksed and he looked sheepishly.

"Sorry, I ran out of ideas. I really didn't know what's your favorite."

"No-no, It's okay. I love chinese. Especially the dumplings." I smiled at him.

"Oh, okay. Let's dig in." He said and I chuckled.

"Wow, really? I actually never seen you in school, since..."

"Yes, because you never payed attention to anyone, other than your girlfriends." I finger-quoted the last word.

"Nevermind that. That was then. I already had planned on sticking to only one girl." he raised his pointing finger and I took a sip of my wine.  Why was he making me nervous? I looked at the tall trees swaying just to distract my nervous system. Oh, the trees were actually swaying, as in swaying.

"Who helped you with all of these?" I asked him.

"A friend from the football team." he shrugged when he answered.

"Wow, you guys did a good job." I patted his back but he put his hand over my left hand. "I really appreciate this, it's wonderful, Jake."

"Thank you, Amy...for coming here with me. I am really not the romantic type of guy..yet here I am.." he leaned back, opening the zipper of the tent. He held a bouquet of white roses in a pink wrapping paper. "For you."

I took the bouquet, smelling it. Wow, how'd he know it was my favorite? "White roses are my favorite, my grandma used to plant this and she'd let me cut it and put it in her vase. How do you know this was my favorite?"

"Lucky guess...I guess?"
