Chapter Twenty Eight - Endless Searching and Clues

Dereks POV (continuing from him trashing the room)

Walking with Greg, we go to my study where Chris has gathered any who may be of help. They don't know what's going on yet but given the variety of people, they know it's serious.

The people vary from a tv screen with a skype call to Steve and her parents, to my family, the warriors and a few others.

"What's going on Derek?" Steve asks from the screen on the wall.

"Before I explain, I need everyone to calm themselves because we must think clearly. Is that understood?" I ask firmly.

I hear a repeated agreement from everyone before I continue.

"Mila... has be taken by rogues..." I say trying to sound strong but probably failing.

"What?! When?!" I hear Steve fume.

"Only an hour ago. We tried to track the scent, my wolf even forced a shift to try catching it but it cuts off at a road. Presumably because she was put into a vehicle." I explain but feel my wolf still angry he didn't find more.

"Now. I've asked everyone here for a reason. Steve I need you to check your territory, with your Alphas permission. Also any packs you've got alliances with to do the same." I ask knowing Alpha Dave will happily help.

He simply nods, I can see the rage in his eyes. I look over to my parents and ask them to contact old friends and get them searching.

"Sam, I really need your help. Can you tell us anything?" I ask but I know I  sound closer to pleading.

Theres a moment of thought before he replies.

"Well I know the leaders worked together and the seconds worked together. So depending on who took her will be the factor on who she might be with. It's only on occassion they have anything to do with each other.. I have to be honest... I'm not sure which is better or worse though." Sam finishes, whispering the end.

"What do you mean?" I ask, nervous for the answer.

"Well... you see the rogue leader sends his failures because they're killed, hunters want us gone so it's a quick way to lessen numbers. But the second hunter tends to search for different wolves to experiment with. He might see how long torture can last or if a new weapon is affective... So, ummm... she's likely to experience one of those." Sam says lowly knowing many will be angry with his knowledge.

My eyes are black as night with rage trying to hold my wolf at bay while breathing hard.

I'm about to say something when I feels tingles in my hand. There's a burning feeling with it which is different, I've never had that.

Looking at his hand in shock, I almost missed Alpha Dave call out to him.

"Derek, mate what's wrong with your hand?" Noticing him staring.

"I just had that sensation from her being hurt but it burns a bit too. It's never done that..." I admit, I've not really noticed any variety.

"You can feel her pain still?" Dave asks wide eyed.

"I guess so... why did it burn a bit too though?"

"Silver, if that's used it goes through the link too. If you can feel pain, she has to be at most only one state over.  Any further and you'd not even notice it. That's good."  Dave confirms.

"So, what about the link?" I ask. Thinking if I can talk to her, I can find her.

"Try, it'll be harder but keep it short. She'll use a lot of energy with more distance." He tells me.
