Chapter 10 - Wheeljack came back

 Ratchet had been working on the computer for quite sometime now. Mumbling and grumbling the whole time. Optimus and I have been making light conversation after this mornings issue. I've learned more about the war and team prime. He told me how the human children became to be with them. I still didn't like the idea. He told me how they want to meet me and Charger. How Bumblebee and Wheeljack told them about what happened while they were here. They were just really excited. And that Miko, the female, is known for just running though the ground bridge without any thought or safety of what's on the other side. Now I wasn't to upset. But I still don't want them coming back just yet. That wasn't a good way to introduce us. And Optimus understood that.

"I think I almost got it." Said Ratchet. Optimus and I turn and walk over to him. He added some equipment to my system. Great now I'm gonna have to figure it all out. "Everything was already in cybertronian? How can you read it?" He asked. "Well Charger taught me, of course." I said nervously. "I thought she didn't speak." He said raising his eyebrow at me. Shit. I'm thinking fast. Trying to figure out what to say. Now Optimus was staring at me. I don't have an answer. I made Charger come up behind me. I feel more protected that way. I look up at Optimus. He's staring so intensely​ that I feel like he's reading my mind. I can't tell them the truth. I've never had this problem happen to me before. I knew this was a bad idea. 

"Shelby? Is there something you want to tell us? Is Charger not the first cybertronian you've met?" Optimus asks me. I think for a moment. "I think it's time for you to go." Is all I can manage to say. Optimus nods his head in understanding. "Ratchet, Have you made sure we can communicate with our base?" He turns to Ratchet. "Yes, Optimus, I have." Ratchet is still staring at me. Trying to figure out what's going on. "I will contact you the next time i'd like to come see you." Optimus said looking back at me. He seemed unsure of the situation I couldn't look at him. I was almost afraid to. I hear the two bots walk outside the shop. I want to run to Optimus and explain. But I can't. not yet. 

I hear the ground bridge open up. Tears start to fall down my face. Everything feels ruined somehow. I don't know what to think. I have Charger transform into her alt mode. My alt mode. I open the driver side door and step in. I sit there. Pondering what just happened. "What have I done?" I say to myself. I lean the seat back a bit and cover my face with my hands. Now they know something isn't right with me. they know that I haven't told them the whole truth. Why couldn't my spark go out when it should of? My depression is hitting me hard now. I feel like i'm losing control of everything. I try and wipe the tears off my face. but they keep falling. I hate crying. I'm such a sparkling. 

I hear some crackling noises after laying there for some time. its coming from my computers. I look over at it. like i'm expecting to see something happen. or something to blow up. I don't feel concerned about it. I guess I don't care anymore at this point. "Shelby...." I hear my name come out. I sit up in the seat. I couldn't make out the voice. as it was covered by static. "Shelby...Charger...Its Wheeljack...." The voice is clearer now. Why is Wheeljack trying to contact me? I step out of my alt mode and make my way over to the computer. "Wheeljack to Shelby.... Please answer." I press a few buttons and a screen pops up with Wheeljacks face and audio visual. "Shelby here." I say cautiously.  "Thank primus. I've been trying to get ahold of you ever since Prime told me you got hooked up with a com link." he said though the system. It was a surprise to hear him say that. I thought he had forgotten about me. even though I knew he talked about me. I guess I really didn't believe it. "Oh I guess I didn't hear. I'm sorry." I said to him. "Its all good, kid. I'm going to be stopping in to see you. sounds like you could use some company." My spark lit up. I could feel my face heat up. Wheeljack wants to see me. But why does he think I need company?

Before I could say anything back, I hear the roaring sounds of the Jackhammer. I have Charger transform and we run outside. I watch as the Jackhammer lands in the field. I want to run up and greet Wheeljack. But I know I shouldn't. I need to be emotionless right now. I leaned against the said of the shop.  I watched him land and the door to his ship come down. The white, red and green bot walks down the ramp. He is smiling, I see his optics light up when he sees me. I can feel my face heat up. I can not let him get to me. He transforms and drives over to me. Drifting to a stop in front of me.  I cough as the dust flies everywhere. I wave it out of my face and hear Wheeljack transform.

"Hey sunshine, How are you doing?" He bends down to my level. I couldn't help but smile. "Hey I'm good, you?" I asked him. "Better now that I'm with you." He smiled down to me. I couldn't stop my face from heating up this time. And I knew he noticed.  "Hey Charger, you keeping Shelby safe?" he stood up and asked her. "She's been doing just fine." I say. I turn around and walk back​ into the shop. Charger and Wheeljack follow me in. "So what's the reason for your visit?" I asked him sitting in my chair. "Like I said. I thought you could use some company." He stated. "I've already had some company." I told him, bringing my mind back to Optimus and Ratchet. "I know what happened. About the kids coming here and scaring you two half to death, and the argument with Optimus and Ratchet." He said again kneeling down to my level.

"let me guess, Optimus told you?" I crossed my arms and looked up at him. "Yeah he did." "Did he call you too? are you only here because Optimus asked you?" Now i'm getting angry. He didn't come to see me cause he wanted too. "No, he just told me what happened. he thought I should leave you alone. But I haven't seen you in awhile and I wanted to come see you." he put his servos up in defense. I didn't know what to say. Was he telling the truth? I don't know. I want to hope he is. "Are you lying to me?" I asked him, arms still crossed. "Shelby, I could never lie to you." He said picking me up from my seat. It surprised me. Wheeljack made sure to be careful. he brought me up to his optics. "I'm sorry I didn't come sooner. I wanted to. but I had some business to take care of. " The softness in his optics helped me relax.

He put me back on the ground and transformed into his alt mode. I gave him a curious look. but I understood as I watched his holoform step out. He walked over to me. I couldn't help but stare. what is wrong with me? I stepped back a little bit as he got closer. "Shelby." he said staring down at me. my spark started beating faster and faster. I could feel my face heating up. I backed into the wall, he put his face near mine and whispered into my ear. "Take a picture..." Before he could finish, I punched him in the gut. Way to ruin the moment Wheeljack, I said to myself. I don't know what came over me. These feelings are taking over. It needs to stop. "ow" I heard Wheeljack say. I looked down at him. "What the hell was that?!" I yelled at him. I turned and walked away. I walked outside. "You know I was just playing. Its fun to watch you struggle when you see me." I wanted to punch him in the face. "Did you just come here to toy with me?" I yelled at him. Not bothering to look at him. 

"No, I just want to have a little fun. I...I um..." He started to stutter. What is he going to say? I'm not sure if I want to know. He put his hand behind his head in a nervous way. He looked down then back up at me. "Shelby, what I want to say is...." He stopped again. "Is what?" I asked him. "Wow this is harder than I thought it would be." He said. "What is harder?" I was more confused than ever. But now  I'm really curious. "I..."
