Olivia
A light knock at the door startled me as I stood in the kitchen with Cassie. It was Jason, and for some reason, I found myself high-strung about this little hangout we were having. It would be the first time that Jason and I officially hung out. The other times we saw each other were just by the grace of chance.
"Looks like your date's here." Cassie sing-sang, taking a sip of her coffee.
Rolling my eyes, I walked over to the door, hesitating for a moment before twisting the knob to open it. Immediately a blush covered my cheeks as I caught sight of a very well-dressed Jason. He looked different, sporting his skinny jeans and blue flannel in comparison to his uniform. I don't think I've ever actually seen him in anything but his navy uniform or bunker gear in the while that I've associated with him. His chocolate brown hair was damp but still looked perfect on him.
"Hi." He greeted, his voice low and raspy.
My lips parted to speak, but for a moment, I'd forgotten how to form words.
"H-hi." I choked out finally, stepping aside so he could enter the apartment.
I watched as he looked me up and down as if he were checking me out, and it made me squirm a little under his gaze. His cool cobalt eyes met mine once more. I could feel my breath get hitched in my throat.
"You look nice, Olivia." A crooked smile played on his lips as I glanced down at my black thigh-high boots.
Cassie had picked them out for me from her closet. She decided to take this as her chance to use me as a dress-up doll. I wore black leggings with one of those edgy jean dresses with frays on the ends and, of course, my black coat. Cassie forced me to take several pictures earlier.
"Thanks, um, you do too." I smiled shyly, playing with my curled hair.
"Hi Jason!" Cassie's voice suddenly peeped in as she made her way from her room into the living area where Jason and I stood.
Jason looked over at her and smiled. "Hey, Cassandra, right?" He asked, furrowing his brows.
"Right." Cassie nodded, placing her hands on her hips and tilting her head to the side. Her long red ponytail swung as she did so. "So here's the thing..." She started as I groaned out in protest.
"Cassie!" I hissed under my breath, not believing what she was doing.
Well, actually, I could believe it. It was Cassandra after all. She'd done the same thing the first time I hung out with Daniel.
"This is my best friend." She continued, completely ignoring me. "You bring her back to me exactly like this, and we'll be good." She smiled, batting her lashes at him.
Jason held his hands up in surrender, still sporting a smile on his face. "Don't worry. I wouldn't dream of letting anything happen to Olivia."
"Glad we're on the same page!" She cheered as I rolled my eyes.
"You've got to excuse her." I chuckled nervously, hoping she didn't just scare Jason off and make him think we're crazy.
"She's fine, she cares about you, and I appreciate that." Jason assured me, smiling at Cassie.
"I was messing with you...kind of, but nice seeing you again, Jason." Cassie laughed, patting him on the shoulder.
"You too." He chuckled before she disappeared back into her bedroom.
"Jason, I'm sorry." I laughed as we headed out of the apartment.
"No need, she's your best friend. I have one of those too." He assured me, holding the door open so I could pass. "And after everything you've been through, I'd expect nothing less."
