I'm so excited!
Hiccup:
Professor Flitwick went first as he walked towards the big door what led to 'the Great Hall'. With a flick of his wand, the doors opened and he walked through. Uncertain of what to do or what to expect, we all followed him down the Hall.
By Wodan now I know why they call it the Great Hall!
It was even bigger than The Entrance Hall and it was lit by thousands of floating candles. Underneath the twinkling lights, there were four long tables packed with students facing another table where the other teachers sat. The tables were laid with glittering golden plates and goblets.
Professor Flitwick almost ran to keep up with our pace, but he led us wihout any difficulties in front of the teachers-table. Once we stood there facing the students, Flitwick put down two stools and climbed on one himself, holding a dusty old hat in his hand and placing that on the other stool.
Suddently, the whole Hall went silent and they all stared at the hat. What were they expecting? Did we have to wave our wands and make a rabbit appear?
You didn't bring your wand in you idiot!!! I thought to myself.
Out of the blue, the hat pulled open a 'mouth' and began to sing?:
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't you judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find,
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient HUfflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
