Chapter Seventeen: Food & Ghosts

After Hiccup got sorted and sat down, we waited for Astrid. She got to sit down at the stool not long after Hiccup and the Sorting Hat shouted:
"GRYFFINDOR!"

I immediately stood up and grinned while Astrid walked towards us. She sat down next to me and was greeted by some other Gryffindors.

"Good to have ya, Astrid!"
"That's right! Another Gryffindor!"

I smiled at her and we did a fist bump.

"I'm glad yer here Astrid! Someone I know a little.."

She nodded and we watched the rest of the Sorting in silence, only yelling and clapping when a new Gryffindor student was chosen.

When the Sorting was over, a severe looking woman at the middle of the teachers table stood up. It grew silent immediately.

"Welcome at a new year of school at Hogwarts! I'd love to welcome all the new students here! My name is Professor McGonnagal and I am the Headmistress of this school.-"

I laughed through my nose and bowed towards Astrid.
"Is her firs' name Professor?"

She chuckled and answered
"Is think she is called Professor Professor McGonnagal!"

"-I must say to you, and maybe to freshen up the memories of the older students, you may not enter the Forbidden Forest unless it's been ordered by a teacher or other authority."

Some of the boys at our table grinned and began to whisper.
"Remember that time when-"

I rolled my eyes. This probably happened every year and it doesn't work.
Can't be that dangerous now can it?

"But now, let's celebrate a new year! Let the feast begin!"

Professor McGonnagal opened her arms and the golden plates filled up with the most delicious food I'd ever seen.

Piles of chickenlegs, fries, potatoes, vegetables and fruit, and for some odd reason, peppermint balls.

Astrid and I stood perplexed at first, but that didn't take long. We digged into the piles of food and began to eat.

"It's a shame Rapunzel is not in Gryffindor..." Astrid said after cramming a tuna sandwich in her mouth.

I nodded in agree. It was. Rapunzel was an enthusiastic and kind girl and I loved to have her around for the small time we knew each other.

"But luckily we probably still have classes with her together. And it doesn't mean we can't be friends!"

My eyes searched for Rapunzel at the table next to us.

She was laughing to the girl in the boat- Tooth I believe.

The sight of Tooth made my think of that boy again. That Jack Frost. Irritating little lad that was. But I had to know why I couldn't see him at first.

I decided to talk to Rapunzel the next day. I bet she wanted to know as bad as I did.

I opened my mouth to make a comment on him when I realised Astrid sat in another boat and probably wasn't as interested as I was.

I looked to my left and indeed: Astrid was talking to Hala, another Gryffindor girl, while stealing glances at the Ravenclaw table.

I followed her gaze and was surprised to see Hiccup awkwardly eating some chicken.

I tapped Astrid on her shoulder and when she turned to me, I raised an eyebrow.

"Who's that lass yer staring at? That Hiccup guy? You know each other?"
