Rapunzel
After everyone had their first flying classes this week, the whole Great Hall was buzzing with excitement. I loved flying, and it were a magical few moments, but it was clear I did not have a special affinity for it.
Just like Jack and Merida, Tooth had aced flying. After I asked why that is, she pulled me aside and showed me her wings. They were beautiful pink and green, sparking in the lights of the candles. She told me that's what the fairies at home use to fly and collect teeth from the children. Jack told me he is able to use the wind to fly without a broom, but that it funnily enough wouldn't let him cheat on the class.
It was weekend again, and all of us were hanging out in the courtyard, the sun burning hot on my shoulders. It was so nice feeling the sun's warmth in its full glory. Jack was less amused by the heat, and he sought a place in the shadows as soon as we sat down.
After he sat down, Tooth was quick to sit next to him and began chittering about the transfiguration homework. Merida and Astrid seemed to be in a conversation about which quidditch position they would audition for next year. My eyes finally fell on Hiccup, who was reading into his charms homework, stealing glances at Astrid every now and then.
"Hey Hiccup," I said softly, "why don't you talk to her?"
He jumped at my sudden words and then turned beet red.
"Oh, yes. I do, Punzie! It's just..." he started mumbling, "Every time I do, I say something stupid and make a fool of myself. She doesn't like me, I'm not even a proper viking!"
"Does that matter? You're such a nice person!"
He sighs, "Yes I know, but I'm just too much of-" he gestured to all of him, "-this. Vikings on Berk kill dragons, take care of problems with muscles, guts and glory on the side. I am basically a talking fishbone!"
"Sometimes you don't need all that strength, Hiccup." I smile softly at him, "You are a wizard now! You're even in Ravenclaw, who are known for their wits! I've heard dragons are pretty mean and scary, but when you get home I bet you can defeat every dragon on Berk!"
He gave me a half-smile. "Thank you, Punzie. It's a good prospect; going home a mighty wizard and killing my first dragon!" His eyes light up, "Maybe I can even kill a Monsterous Nightmare that way! That would make them notice me for sure."
He pulled out his wand and stood up. "I better practise these spells then! Do you want to help Rapunzel?"
"Yes, that seems fun!"
I let him help me get up from the floor and dusted my skirt off. "All right everyone, Hiccup and I are going to-"
I looked at the group and noticed they had all stopped talking. They were all looking at Tooth, whose eyes were glazing over a light pink and was clinging onto Jack, who looked as confused as the rest. He caught my gaze.
Toothfairy, he signaled to me without sound.
A whole minute passed before Tooth seemed to get back to her senses. Her tinted face has gone pale and her pink green hair seemed to have lost its glow. With tears in her eyes, she looked at Jack and then at me.
"It's my parents. They have disappeared."

Jack
Tooth and I had been discussing the Transfiguration homework, which she was very excited about helping me, when her eyes suddenly glazed over pink and she fell silent.
I had seen this happen before. She was recieving a message from home. Faster than an owl or any fairy, her family had the ability to communicate with each other all over the world to keep the Toothfairy buissness running smoothly.
I wasn't particuarly concerned until I saw her happy expression drop to one of fear and she reached out for my arm, holding on right.
Silently letting Rapunzel know what was going on, we waited until Tooth blinked and her purple eyes looked straight into mine.
"It's my parents. They have disappeared."
Disappeared? Mrs and Mrs Tooth had disappeared?
Tooth ran her hands anxiously through her hair.
"What do you mean- disappeared? Tooth, they can't just be gone! They're-... you know!"
She stood up and looked at our friends. "I'm sorry guys, but I think I have to leave Hogwarts for a while. I hope to see you all really soon though!"
The others had barely time to say goodbye or ask questions before she dragged me out their circle into an abandoned spot in a corridor nearby.
Tooth's big, purple eyes looked up at me and I could see the swirling clouds of loss and pain.
"The little fairies just contacted me. My moms... they suddenly disappeared, haven't been in contact with them in a couple of hours now." Tooth skips from one let to the other, obviously eager to flap out her wings and fly home this instant.
"That might not seem like much, but if you know how much we contact each other on a normal day... All contact attempts have failed, even when North sent out word. The little fairies have no idea what to do!"
I hugged her. "I am so sorry Tooth, this seems terrible! Have you got any idea how this could happen?"
She shrugged in dispair. "No. I have no idea, Jack! Most likely it's Pitch, but I doubt if this is his style." She sighs. "I have to go back home. Someone has to guard the little fairies and keep it running. That is vital to all the children of the world!"
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"I don't want to hold you from your studies Jack-"
"That's okay! It's weekend anyway. With your parents gone, I just think it's saver for you if you have someone with you."
Tooth was walking up and down the path, a frown adorning her forehead.
"Okay, fine. But I think we must let the headmaster know."
I nodded. "Are you going to do that? Then I'll explain to everyone what's going on and we can go."
She gave me one last, quick hug before nodding and darting away to the Headmaster's office.
I took a minute to think about this newfound information. The Toothfairies disappearing... How could that happen? Was Tooth right, could it be Pitch? And if it were him, why would he do it now? But a simple disappearance wasn't his style... Pitch Black had always had a dramatic flair to him, a sign that it was him.
What was happening?
I slowly walked back to the others, and I could hear them speak in hushed voices, debating about what was going on and if Tooth was allright. When I came out if the shadows, they all shut up and looked up at me with questioning eyes. Finally it was Rapunzel who asked the question.
"Is Tooth allright?"
I took a deep breath. "No. I will tell the rest of you the details later, but Tooth's parents have disappeared. This is very concerning, because we think the Boogeyman might be behind it. We're not sure, though. Either way, Tooth has to go home for the time being, hopefully until her moms are home safe. I'm going to accompany her there so I'll be gone too, for a few days."
Merida's expression was all confusion. "What do you mean-.... Boogeyman?"
I went to roll my eyes but then remembered she couldn't know yet. "Yes, Mer. The Boogeyman, Pitch Black. I promise I will explain you when I return, but I ask you all to keep this quiet."
With a stern expression, I looked them all four of them in the eyes. "Whatever caused this, the disappearance of two Guardians is a great concern to us all, and Pitch Black is an individual to be reckoned with. Only the Moon knows what's going on right now, and I'm not even sure that he does."
